Patent number: 9084834Abstract: A sterilization cassette has a slide latch system to secure the lid of the cassette to the body of the cassette. A finger tab on the outside of the cassette moves a latch arm on the inside of the cassette along a slot. A tension spring secures the position of latch components whether the latch is open or closed. Spacers between the cassette and latch parts facilitate smooth gliding action. The latch arm engages an angled bracket on the lid of the cassette. Alternating notch depths on instrument rails within the cassette work with opposing rails that likewise have alternating depths of notches to capture and hold instruments. This notch configuration causes the handles of adjacent instruments stowed in the cassette to stagger in height so that a clinician can access the handles of the stowed instruments.Type: GrantFiled: May 9, 2013Date of Patent: July 21, 2015Assignee: American Eagle Instruments, Inc.Inventor: Dennis A. Meuchel

Publication number: 20080124674Abstract: A color coded instrument has a colored resin cone connected at one end of a handle to provide a means to visually identify the instrument. The working tip of the instrument extends from the cone. The cone provides a sanity, non-flexible, impermeable and sterile connection between the metal handle and working tip.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 24, 2008Publication date: May 29, 2008Inventor: Dennis A. Patent number: 6719447Abstract: A low voltage power supply includes a plurality of output terminal pairs interconnected by electrical circuitry effective to permit individual adjustment of the voltages applied between each such pair for powering simultaneously a plurality of light sources at individually selected voltages. The light sources are associated with dental handpieces through umbilical tubings, an exemplary one of which includes a bundle of flexible, light-conducting fibers connected between a first coupling fixture holding a subminiature bulb and a second coupling structurally adapted for connection to a dental handpiece.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 1998Date of Patent: April 13, 2004Assignee: Micron Dental Manufacturing, Inc.Inventors: Gary W. Woodward, Brad B. Heckerman, Dennis A. Meuchel

Patent number: 6257887Abstract: A dental hand instrument comprises an elongated handle formed of a thermosetting plastic and a metal working tip inserted into an end of the handle. The handle may be a multi-part assembly with replaceable working tip end sections. The handle has a bore provided in the end to accommodate a shank end of the tip. The handle and the tip are subjected to heat treatment to partially melt a portion of the thermosetting plastic adjacent to the shank end to bind the shank in solid plastic-to-metal contact along the shank end. The shank end of the tip is provided with a non slip surface that is encompassed and embedded in the thermosetting plastic so that the tip will not turn during use.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 1999Date of Patent: July 10, 2001Assignee: American Eagle Instruments, Inc.Inventors: Brad B. Heckerman, Russ Jenkins, Dennis Meuchels, Jeff Smithers
