  • Patent number: 12110597
Abstract: Methods of applying an inorganic material to a metal substrate that includes a metallic material having an austenite transformation temperature. The method includes depositing inorganic particles onto a surface of the metal substrate. In some embodiments, methods may include depositing inorganic particles at a deposition temperature that does not cause the metallic material to exceed the austenite transformation temperature. The inorganic particles deposited onto the surface of the metal substrate may form an abrasion-resistant coating on the surface of the metal substrate. The difference between the coefficient of thermal expansion of the metallic material and the coefficient of thermal expansion of the abrasion-resistant coating may be 10×10?6/degrees C. or less.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 20, 2019
Date of Patent: October 8, 2024
    Assignee: Corning Incorporated
Inventors: Thomas William Brew, Dennis Michael Brown, Brian James Miller, Obiefuna Chukwuemeka Okafor

  • Publication number: 20070283314
Abstract: Disclosed are methods and systems for performing a change-over to one or more components of a computing system. As part of a change-over procedure to one or more system components (i.e. software routines) of a production computing system, a clone of one or more production system components of the production computing system may be generated on the same computing platform as the production computing system component is running. According to some embodiments of the present invention, “virtualization” is one technique which may be used to generate and maintain a clone system component or virtual machine.
