  • Patent number: 9102466
Abstract: A waste collection vehicle, such as a garbage truck, recycling truck or organic waste collection truck, has a bucket drive mechanism. The vehicle has a waste container that houses a bin and a movable bucket for receiving waste. The movable bucket is driven upwardly in sliding contact with a divider wall of the bin by the bucket drive mechanism. The bucket drive mechanism further causes the bucket to rotate about a pivot for transferring waste from the bucket into the bin. A rotatable paddle may be provided for sweeping the waste from the bucket and for compacting the waste inside the bin. The bucket drive mechanism may include inclined actuators eccentrically connected to sliding collars that run over guide rails to raise the bucket until the sliding collars reach a horizontally disposed rocker shaft that acts as a pivot for pivoting the bucket.

  • Patent number: 6953316
Abstract: A mechanism for effecting a latching action between a loading bucket and a rock shaft assembly for a self-loading refuse/recyclables handling vehicle. By providing a latch and release mechanism that allows the bucket and rock shaft assembly to engage and disengage over a range rather than one particular point, the various flow characteristics of the different materials can be better accommodated and the collection vehicle can function properly under a wide variety of operating conditions.

  • Patent number: 6821077
Abstract: A waste and recyclables materials compaction and handling apparatus includes a storage container for the materials. An elongated charging hopper is defined adjacent to and alongside the storage container for receiving the materials, the charging hopper having open end portions defining pathways leading into the interior of the storage container. A packing head is mounted for travel within and along the charging hopper between the open end portions and at least one driver is connected to the packing head to effect the travel thereof along the charging hopper between positions adjacent the open end portions. The packing head has opposed packing faces adapted to engage the materials placed in the charging hopper.

  • Patent number: 6793451
Abstract: A garbage or recyclable material handling system uses material containers each pivotally mounted to respective supports at desired locations for movement between a lower material receiving position and a partially inverted material discharge position. At least one materials collection vehicle is provided to communicate with respective containers when in the discharge position to receive the materials discharged therefrom.
