  • Publication number: 20070218311
Abstract: A coated substrate is disclosed. The coated substrate includes a substrate and a coating composition over the substrate comprising at least one metal based layer selected from tungsten, chromium, tantalum, molybdenum, aluminum, niobium, and mixtures and alloys thereof; and mixtures and alloys of cobalt and chromium; and at least one dielectric layer including SixNy, where x/y ranges from 0.75 to 1.5, over the metal based layer. The ?Ecmc (1.5:1) (T), ?Ecmc (1.5:1) (R1) and ?Ecmc (1.5:1) (R2) of a non-heat treated, coated substrate as compared to a heat treated, coated substrate according to the present invention are no greater than 8 units.

  • Publication number: 20070116967
Abstract: A coated article is provided for use in an IG unit. The article includes a substrate and a coating formed over at least a portion of the substrate. The coating includes a plurality of separation layers having one or more dielectric layers and a plurality of infrared reflective layers. The coating can be positioned on the #2 or #3 surface of the IG unit and can provide a reference solar heat gain coefficient of less than or equal to 0.35.

  • Publication number: 20070002422
Abstract: An electrochromic switchable transparency, e.g. a window and/or a mirror includes an electrochromic switchable medium between a pair of electrode assemblies. At least one of the electrode assemblies is transparent to visible light and includes an electrode over a surface. In one nonlimiting embodiment of the invention, the electrode has two electrically conducting layers and a bridging layer between and interconnecting the two electrically conducting layers. In one nonlimiting embodiment, the bridging layer includes a high electrically resistance connecting layer to provide the electrode with a heating layer to heat the surface and/or a current conducting layer to pass current to the medium. In another nonlimiting embodiment, the bridging layer includes an electrically connecting layer to pass current to electrically enhance the first electrically conductive layer.

  • Publication number: 20050129863
Abstract: The present invention provides is a method of making an infrared reflective coated article, including the steps of: providing a substrate; depositing a first dielectric layer over at least a portion of the substrate, the layer comprising a first zinc stannate film deposited over the substrate, and an electrical enhancing film deposited over the first zinc stannate film, the electrical enhancing film selected from zinc oxide-tin oxide film and a second zinc stannate film; forming an infrared reflective layer on the first dielectric layer; forming a metal primer layer over the infrared reflective layer; forming a second dielectric layer over the primer layer; and forming a protective layer of at least two films in a position where it can provide durability to the dielectric layer, infrared reflective layer, metal primer layer, and second dielectric layer.
