  • Patent number: 9915582
Abstract: A pressure testing unit for pressure testing equipment including a test cell having first and second side walls, a cell frame, a lid pivotally mounted on the first side wall, a first tie rod disposed through the cell frame, a second tie rod disposed through the cell frame, a first impact plate removably secured to proximal ends of the first and second side walls and proximal ends of the first and second tie rods, and a second impact plate removably secured to distal ends of the first and second side walls and distal ends of the first and second tie rods. The test cell may be lengthened by attaching a second test cell thereto. One of the impact plates may be removed from the test cell, and receptacles on the test cell may be connected to receptacles on the second test cell.

  • Patent number: 9382768
Abstract: A modular system and process for connecting a first and second tubular. The system may comprise a skid, a tong assembly operatively associated with the skid, a hydraulic power unit, operatively positioned on said skid, a spring assembly that includes spring stands, a frame containing the tong assembly, springs, rods disposed within the spring, and lanyards attached to the rods on a first end and attached to the base on a second end so that vibratory and displacement forces created during torqueing of the first tubular onto the second tubular are absorbed. The system may also include a sensor, operatively positioned on the skid, for sensing an applied torque to the first and second tubular, and generating a sensor signal.

  • Patent number: 7201233
Abstract: A movable arm 10 engages a flexible line 50 at a well site for positioning the flexible line between run-in position for passing the flexible line with a tubular through a well hole in the rig floor and a clamping position wherein the flexible line is adjacent the tubular above the rig floor for clamping the line to the tubular. The arm 10 extends upward from the rig floor 70, and includes a line guide, such as roller 12, for engaging the flexible line when in the run-in position. A powered drive 14 moves the arm between the run-in position and the clamping position. A spacer 82 may be used for positioning two or more flexible lines at a desired spacing relative to one another prior to positioning the lines within a clamp secured to the tubular. A slip bowl assembly 60 may be laterally movable so that slips do not engage the flexible line as it is run in the well.

  • Publication number: 20050072571
Abstract: Junk basket 10 is provided for collecting debris from a wellbore cleaning operation, and includes a central mandrel 14 having a throughbore 16 and an outer shell 24 defining a generally annular junk space 40. The outer shell 24 may be configured such that the annulus 27 includes a reduced portion 28. Flow holes 30 in the outer shell are preferably angled substantially upward, and are positioned to discharge fluid to the annulus 27. According to a method of the invention, fluid is passed from an upper tubing string, through the central mandrel, into the wellbore and upward through the annulus and past the flow holes, thereby reducing pressure of flow past the well holes to pass fluid from the junk space through the flow holes.

  • Patent number: 6439316
Abstract: A power tong 10 for making up and breaking apart threaded oilfield tubular connections includes a frame 11 having an open throat 20, a rotary ring 16 having an open throat 22, and a door 24 for closing over the open throat for safety. Hydraulic motor 42 is regulated by a control valve 52 for rotating the ring 16 which in turn rotates the oilfield tubular. A switch 46 responsive to the position of the door 24 controls the flow of air pressure to a cylinder 50, which renders active valve operator 54 which controls valve 52. According to the method of the invention, the door 24 must first be closed so that the switch 46 renders the valve operator 52 active, and the valve operator 52 must be reset once the door is opened before it can be manipulated to operate the motor control valve 52.
