    Abstract: The present invention is an electrostatographic reproduction apparatus which includes a primary imaging member for producing an electrostatic latent image on a receiver, a development station for applying toner particles to said latent image which forms a developed toner image on the receiver. A transport member is provided for transporting the receiver to or from the fuser assembly, the transport member having a substrate bearing an oil-absorbing layer that includes transparent alumina inorganic particles of siloxane coated gamma-alumina, dispersed in an organic binder, and a fluorosurfactant.

    Abstract: This invention relates to electrophotographic elements containing a layer formed from coating compositions containing a mixture of polymeric binders, including a polyvinyl butyral and a polyester ionomer and a crystalline mixture of unsubstituted titanyl phthalocyanine pigment, titanyl phthalocyanine pigments or mixtures thereof dispersed in the mixture. More particularly the invention relates to electrophotographic elements containing photoconductive layers which are especially useful for forming a photoconductive layer that is very uniform and highly absorptive at relatively thin coverage with good inter layer adhesion. The electrophotographic elements produced using this coating composition are particularly suited for high quality applications such as providing copy images with very low grain.

The charge generation layer (CGL) includes a charge-generation material comprising an aggregated or crystalline form of a first dye or pigment and a first polymeric binder. The charge transport layer (CTL) comprises at least one charge-transport agent, a second dye or pigment having absorption in a selected spectral region that at least partially overlaps the absorption of a dissolved non-aggregated or non-crystalline form of the first dye or pigment, and a second polymeric binder. The second dye or pigment in the charge transport layer absorbs radiation in the selected spectral region that is incident on the charge transport layer, thereby shielding the charge generation layer from that radiation and mitigating visible radiation-induced photofatigue.

    Abstract: A method for applying a seamless coating of a surface-modifying material to a product roller by transfer of the material to the product roller, from an application roller, to produce the seamless coating. Gravure rollers, slot dies, falling curtains or ribbons, jets and sprays may be used to deposit the material on the product roller. Dipping may also be used. Gravure rollers are preferred as the application roller. The coating is applied as a plurality of coatings, which are applied without drying the previous coating before application of a subsequent coating.

    Abstract: A latex paint containing water and one or more higher boiling organic solvents is coated on a carrier film and dried by a process which yields a dried paint layer free of bubble defects. The film is passed continuously through a series of at least three drying stages in contact with warm, moderately humid air and more than half of the heat required for evaporation is supplied to the underside of the film. Drying conditions in at least each of the first three stages are controlled to maintain a film temperature profile which causes the water to evaporate at a moderate rate but more rapidly than the organic solvents, thus achieving coalescence of the paint and avoiding the trapping of liquids in a surface-hardened paint layer.
