  • Publication number: 20190376649
Abstract: A gas cylinder monitoring device (34) for use with a valve (18) for controlling the flow of gas from a cylinder (14). The valve (18) has a valve body (20), and the device comprises an ambient temperature sensor (38) to measure the ambient temperature (TA), a valve body temperature sensor (36) to measure the temperature (TV) of the valve body, and a processor (42). The processor (42) operates to process a compensated temperature (CT) calculated from the difference between the measured valve body temperature (TV) and the ambient temperature (TA) over time (t). A flow-rate (FR) of the flow of gas from the cylinder and/or the pressure (P) on the gas is determined.

  • Patent number: 8413545
Abstract: A transmission housing, or transmission including a transmission housing, having a plurality of dipstick access ports positioned on the housing for receiving in each access port a dipstick that is used to monitor a level of transmission fluid in an oil pan mounted to a bottom of the transmission housing. The housing may also include internal lugs positioned along an internal surface of the housing that interlock or interconnect with a transmission component to minimize rotational movement of the component relative to the housing. The lugs are aligned and spaced equidistance apart circumferentially on the internal surface of the housing, thereby eliminating larger gaps between consecutive lugs, which may concentrate mechanical stresses on the lugs at such a gap, as in prior art transmission. In addition, the housing may include an inlet fluid port positioned adjacent the lugs for receiving cooled transmission fluid to lubricate and cool centrally and rearwardly positioned transmission components.

  • Patent number: 5855148
Abstract: An improved automatic transmission has a reverse gear piston which can be engaged as a transmission brake. The piston is movable in a first direction and has a surface. A hydraulic means supplies transmission fluid to a space between the surface and the housing to engage the piston and removes the hydraulic fluid from the space to disengage the piston thereby releasing the transmission brake. In one embodiment, the hydraulic means has a passageway with the first cross-sectional area through the housing and a second cross-sectional area larger than the first cross-sectional area in the housing that is exposed to the space thereby reducing friction between the fluid and the second cross-section which reduces the release time of the fluid from the space. In another embodiment, the transmission has a means for adjusting the cross-sectional area of the passageway through the housing.
