  • Patent number: 7041353
Abstract: An insulation package contains a plurality of unfaced or faced, uncut and pre-cut fibrous insulation batts of a pre-selected width enveloped within a covering in a compressed condition. Each of the pre-cut fibrous insulation batts has a plurality of longitudinally extending batt sections separably joined to adjacent batt sections by separable connectors. The separable connectors hold the pre-cut fibrous insulation batt together for handling but can be separated along the lengths of the batt sections by hand to separate adjacent batt sections. Preferably, between 20% and 70% of the fibrous insulation batts in each of the insulation packages are pre-cut fibrous insulation batts.

  • Publication number: 20030224145
Abstract: A fibrous blanket, formed with a profiled weight and thickness across the width and/or along the length of the blanket, may be used for various thermal and/or acoustical applications or formed through molding into a molded part having: a uniform thickness and variable density; a variable thickness and a uniform density; or a variable thickness and a variable density. When forming the fibrous blanket on a collection surface, the deposition of fibers on the collection surface is controlled, by manipulating the fiber containing gas stream and the fibers in the gas stream with secondary gas streams, to obtain a desired weight and thickness profile for the fibrous blanket.

  • Patent number: 6347991
Abstract: A hinged vent chute, for providing ventilation to an open attic space, includes an elongated chute segment and an insulation dam segment. The elongated chute segment has one or more upwardly open channels, extending from a lower end to an upper end of the chute segment, that provide an air passage from a soffit region of a roof, over an interior surface of the roof, up into an open attic space beneath the roof. The hinged vent chute has a hinge or fold line joining the elongated chute segment to the insulation dam segment which permits the vent chute to be folded downward at the hinge to position the insulation dam segment for securement to form an insulation dam which prevents loose fill insulation in an attic from flowing down into a soffit region of a roof and blocking air flow.

  • Patent number: 5639291
Abstract: In a method of and an apparatus for forming composite and other fibers, individual filaments from two or more sets of continuous primary filaments of two or more heat-softenable fiberizable materials are brought together lengthwise to form pairs of continuous primary filaments. The groupings of continuous primary filaments are fed into a high energy attenuation blast where the filaments are heated, attenuated and formed into composite or other staple fibers of the heat-softenable fiberizable materials. Preferably, the individual continuous primary filaments of the groupings of continuous primary filaments are fused, adhesively bonded or otherwise joined together, prior to being introduced into the high energy attenuation blast, to prevent the individual primary filaments of the groupings of continuous primary filaments from separating in the high energy attenuation blast.
