  • Publication number: 20110263182
Abstract: An enclosure cover for collecting and disposing of unwanted moisture within honeybee hives during periods of temperature and humidity conditions that promote alternate freezing and thawing. An internal cover surface collects and condenses moisture produced by the bees' metabolism which otherwise may be deposited on the internal surface of the cover as frost and later thaw, causing droplets of cold water to fall on the clustered bees. The enclosure cover is arranged to direct and channel collected water from the condensation surface and discharge the same outside of the hive.

  • Patent number: 7650853
Abstract: A device for applying, in use, electromagnetic microwave radiation in a plasma cavity. The device includes a plasma cavity present within a housing, being substantially cylindrically symmetric about a first axis, and which plasma cavity includes a cylindrical wall provided with a circumferential slit. The plasma cavity is in communication, via the slit, with a first end of an elongated microwave guide having a longitudinally extending second axis. The device is in communication in use with a microwave generating device via the other end of the microwave guide, in which the electromagnetic microwave radiation being generated may include several modes, where the device can, in use, generate microwave radiation in the slit, which microwave radiation has only one electromagnetic field distribution at least in one direction perpendicularly to the propagation direction of the microwave radiation in the microwave guide.

  • Publication number: 20090126724
Abstract: A one-way valve (10) is disclosed which comprises a body portion (12) defining a passage through which fluid is able to pass during use, a support member (22) disposed in the passage, a seat member (28) disposed in the passage and provided with at least one aperture (32), a shaft (24) extending between the support member (22) and the seat member (28) and a membrane (26) disposed on the shaft (24) such that the membrane (26) is rotatable relative to the shaft (24). The seat member (28) cooperates with the membrane (26) such that a first predetermined pressure differential across the membrane (26) causes the membrane to cover the at least one aperture (32) and thereby prevent fluid flow past the seat member (28), and such that a second predetermined pressure differential of opposite polarity to the first predetermined pressure differential causes the membrane (26) to not cover the at least one aperture (32) and thereby permit fluid flow past the seat member (28).
