Abstract: A panel provided for use in an air handling unit includes a skin and a fixture, the fixture and the skin composed of a metal material. The fixture has a base, with an opening formed in the base. The base includes at least one riser extending substantially perpendicular to the base, the at least one riser being secured to the skin to form an enclosed chamber between the skin and the fixture. A perforated sheet is disposed over the opening, a layer of film disposed on a surface of the perforated sheet facing the skin. A first insulating material is disposed on a surface of the film layer opposite the perforated sheet. A second insulating material is disposed in the enclosed chamber between the first insulating material and the skin.

Abstract: A cap member for use with a corner fitting having an inner surface and an outer surface that is configured to receive ends of a plurality of structural members to form a corner frame of an air handling unit. The cap member includes a body overlying the remaining portion of the outer surface of the structural fitting not receiving the plurality of structural members, and abuts the ends of the plurality of structural members so that the outer surface of the structural fitting is substantially concealed.

Abstract: A structural fitting for constructing an air handling unit framework including a member having a first portion, a second portion and a third portion, each portion having a first leg and a second leg. The first leg of the first portion and the second leg of the second portion form a first edge, the second leg of the first portion and the first leg of the third portion form a second edge and the first leg of the second portion and the second leg of the third portion form a third edge. The first edge, the second edge and the third edge form a corner. The ends of the first edge, the second edge and the third edge opposite the corner each receive an end of a structural member to form a corner of the framework.

The base is interposed between opposed ends and opposed risers extending from the ends of the base in a direction away from the surface. The risers are secured to the skin to form an enclosed chamber between the skin and the fixture. An insulating material is then injected into the enclosed chamber.

Abstract: An air handling unit (AHU) for housing a number of components used in a heating or cooling system to provide forced air for climate control in a particular structure includes a single raceway construction having both low thermal conductivity and enhanced mechanical properties for use with lifting the AHU; a single insulated panel construction having a minimum number of components as well as enhanced mechanical properties for use as the floor in an AHU compartment; to minimize costs associated with fabrication and installation.
