Publication number: 20070017718Abstract: A power wheel system includes a first wheel member that is attachable to a vehicle, an electric motor that selectively rotates the first wheel member and that is mounted at least partially within the first wheel member and a receiver that is attachable to the vehicle that receives wireless power from a power source, preferably electromagnetic radiation energy from the Earth's magnosphere. The power wheel system may also include a first transformer that receives an input voltage from the receiver and supplies a corresponding output voltage to the electric motor. This transformer may be positioned at least partially within the wheel member. The power wheel system may also include a control mechanism that is used to control the power wheel system. In another embodiment some of the same components can be arranged to provide a power residence system.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 20, 2005Publication date: January 25, 2007Inventor: Dennis S. Publication number: 20030024622Abstract: The present invention is directed at a tire design, which allows for proper operational characteristics in all operating conditions, and is not dependent on pneumatic pressurization. The tire is mounted in a wheel rim, and comprises an integral homogeneous toroidal body having a pair of spaced-apart radially extending sidewalls and a cross member. Each sidewall has a first and a second end and an internal face and an external face, with the second end of each of the sidewalls integrally merging into the cross member. A set of rim-engaging surfaces at the first end of each of the sidewalls allows effective mounting to conventional tire rims. An annular chamber is defined by the internal faces of the sidewalls and an internal top wall on the cross member opposite the at least one road engaging surface.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 4, 2001Publication date: February 6, 2003Inventor: Dennis S. Patent number: 6165397Abstract: A method of manufacture for producing a molded article from a polyurethane material, utilizing a spin casting apparatus, preferably a non-pneumatic tire, where a mold that is formed in sections or halves and has an inner cavity formed to have the shape of the article to be manufactured and is separable to release that article after manufacture. The mold is secured to a support plate of the apparatus that is journaled to turn axially imparting a centrifugal force into the mold. The support plate is connected to or is arranged to be connected to a motor assembly for turning, and includes a clamping arrangement for maintaining the mold halves together on the support plate. An annular trough is formed in the mold immediately adjacent to a mold interior cavity inner circumference to receive a polyurethane material liquid passed thereto, and to, in turn, pass that liquid through a trough annular opening or ports into the mold cavity.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 1999Date of Patent: December 26, 2000Assignee: American Mobility LimitedInventors: Vincent F. Panaroni, Richard A. Steinke, Dennis S. Chrobak

Patent number: 5795549Abstract: Apparatus for remediation of particulate matter and gaseous pollutants entrained in flue gases. The flue gases, having a pre-determined moisture content, are mixed with sorbent material and forced through an induct venturi equipped with a mixing impeller. Downstream, the reaction products are removed from the gas stream and collected for use as construction material. The vented gas stream is monitored for specific pollutants and the amount of sorbent material introduced into the system can be automated in response to reading obtained. Additionally, the gas stream can pass through a bag house or cyclone wherein the bags are impregnated with materials specific to the pollutants carried in the stream.Type: GrantFiled: November 26, 1996Date of Patent: August 18, 1998Assignee: American Mobility Ltd.Inventors: Richard A. Steinke, Dennis S. Chrobak

Patent number: 5743316Abstract: A dynamic steerable spring for axially mounting for supporting a compressive load as it would experience as a vehicle wheel, the load from such vehicle being distributed being evenly transferred to a spring hub, as a replacement for a conventional pneumatic or non pneumatic tire. The spring is preferably manufactured from a single flat sheet of a spring steel type material that is formed into a circular disk that is cut by identical equally spaced radial slots from the disk circumference to a radial distance from the disk center, that is the spring hub wherethrough radially spaced lug bolt holes are formed, with the disk elements between the slots being identical and each terminating in essentially a rectangular end portion.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 1995Date of Patent: April 28, 1998Assignee: American Mobility Systems, Inc.Inventor: Dennis S. Patent number: 5027876Abstract: A low pressure radial ply tire (20) for light off-the-road use has tow radial carcass plies (22) oriented at a cord angle (CA) with respect to the Equatorial Plane (EP) from 65 to 85.degree.. The tire is not reinforced by a belt reinforcing structure to allow the carcass (22) to compensate within the footprint of the tire under varying conditions. The tread (26) is provided with a number of holes (38) having a very shallow depth and spaced uniformly across the tread surface to increase flotation and wherein the net-to-gross is in the range of 0.63 to 0.77.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 1989Date of Patent: July 2, 1991Assignee: The Goodyear Tire & Rubber CompanyInventors: Dennis S. Patent number: 4936365Abstract: A tire (10) is provided with a cast body (12). The cast body has an annular circumferentially extending isotropic portion (14) having a pair of anisotropic side portions (16,18) extending therefrom. The side portions are rendered anisotropic by geometric means. A reinforcing means (30) is attached to the inner or interior surface of the side portions and extends from the isotropic portion to a point radially inwardly of the maximum section width (SW) of the tire. The reinforcing means may include a number of alternating ridges and grooves (46,48). The body may be cast from an elastomeric material such as polyurethane. A tread (26) and belt package (28) is disposed over the body and may be either elastomeric or rubber.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 1988Date of Patent: June 26, 1990Assignee: The Goodyear Tire & Rubber CompanyInventors: Dennis S.
