  • Patent number: 10227557
Abstract: A method for producing astaxanthin incorporates a method for producing astaxanthin-rich algae cells and a method for extracting astaxanthin therefrom. An initial feedstock comprises healthy algae, water, and nutrients. During a growth phase, carbon dioxide and light from a light source are supplied to the feedstock, thereby amplifying the algae. At least a portion of the nutrients remaining after amplification of the algae are separated from the amplified algae. During a stress phase, carbon dioxide and light are supplied to the amplified algae, thereby promoting production of astaxanthin by the amplified algae. The amplified algae and a cover are placed within an interior of an attrition mill having interior surfaces and media which are substantially non-reactive to astaxanthin and milled to release the astaxanthin from the algae. The cover limits oxidation of the released astaxanthin.

  • Patent number: 9104673
Abstract: A data structure used by an operating system to refer to a filesystem object includes information that permits the structure to be associated with filesystem objects having different filesystem implementations. The data structure is associated with a filesystem object that is linked into different directories that have different filesystem implementations. Therefore, the data structure includes respective information within it about each different link. As a result, a filesystem object, such as a directory, having one filesystem implementation may be created in or moved to another directory having a different filesystem implementation; or, a file may be linked in multiple directories having different implementations.

  • Patent number: 8667035
Abstract: A filesystem conversion process converts a filesystem from one implementation type to another type while the filesystem remains active and fully accessible. The conversion process builds a list of directories in the filesystem that are of the old filesystem type and then converts each directory until the entire filesystem is converted. Instead of the filesystem being shutdown to perform the conversion, the conversion process may run as a background thread that does not interfere with normal filesystem operations.

  • Patent number: 8403134
Abstract: A portable storage device for athletic equipment is provided. The device includes a frame defining a floor and a plurality of walls extending from the floor, each of the plurality of walls having interior and exterior sides. The interior sides of the walls define a space therebetween. The device further includes an arm supported by the frame, the arm adjustable between a collapsed state and an extended state. The device further includes a flexible sheet adjustable between a first state in which the flexible sheet is collapsed and configured to be disposed within the space and a second state in which the flexible sheet is extended and configured to be supported by the arm when the arm is in the extended state. The flexible sheet includes a restraining member configured to receive a portion of an elongate item of athletic equipment extending between the floor and the restraining member.

  • Patent number: 6785693
Abstract: Multiple links to the same object are managed by storing the attributes of the object in only one place. Each directory which links to the object has an object attribute table; each table has a number of entries all capable of storing the attributes of the files linked to the directory. One of the entries in a directory linked to a file stores the attributes of that file, called the master entry; other entries in the same or other directories that also link to the same file have slave entries capable of storing the attributes but not storing the attributes in their respective object attribute table. The file need only address the master entry. The master entry may point to the other slave entries which may point back to the master or to other slave entries as determined by a pointer protocol. When the master entry is to be deallocated, another of the qualified slave entries receives the attribute information and the file is updated to reflect that a new master has been declared.

  • Patent number: 6674846
Abstract: The method and system determines if modem pulse dialing has been requested in a telecommunication system having both a modem and an associated modem driver. When modem pulse dialing is requested, a fast timer is activated by the modem driver in association with a slow timer in the modem by stopping the fast timer, calculating a divisor value to set-up an interrupt period for the pulse dialing and restarting the fast timer utilizing the interrupt period. The fast timer is started and stopped by enabling/disabling timer interrupts. By synchronizing the fast timer and the slow timer to count in millisecond increments with the modem continuously operating utilizing both the slow timer and the fast timer, the timer resolution necessary for modem pulse dialing is produced. The modem releases control to the operating system during inter-digit delay time.

  • Patent number: 3961657
Abstract: A radial ply pneumatic tire having an axial spacing between the beads when in the mold which is greater than the axial spacing of the beads when mounted on a rim and in which the width of the ground contacting tread surface is no greater than the axial spacing of the beads when mounted on a rim. The tire is further characterized by an annular recess in each outer sidewall for disassociating the tread structure from the sidewalls and lower bead areas, and a wedge of hard rubber bridging the space between the rim flange and lower sidewall portion for improving the reaction between the rim and a specially rigidified lower sidewall area to provide rapid steering response. The foregoing abstract is not to be taken as limiting the invention of this application, and in order to understand the full nature and extent of the technical disclosure of this application, reference must be made to the accompanying drawings and the following detailed description.
