Abstract: An electronic monitoring system has one or more imaging devices that can detect at least one triggering event comprising sound and motion and a controller that executes a program to categorize the triggering event as being located in a user-defined activity zone within the field of view and/or as being a taxonomic-based triggering event. Upon categorizing the triggering event, the system generates an output comprising a video component and an audio component. At least a portion of the audio component is modified if the triggering event is a categorized triggering event. Modification of the audio may include muting all or a portion of the audio component of the output.

Abstract: A sterile holder for sterile surgical implants. The implant holder is an ergonomically shaped body of deformable material having an implant-receiving cavity similar in size and shape to the implant. To remove the implant from the holder, the surgeon mates a sterile tool to the implant and gently pries the implant out of the holder by deforming the body. Preferably the tool used to pry the implant out of the body is an insertion tool mated to the implant which is also used to insert the implant in a patient. In this way the surgeon retrieves the implant from its container without touching the container and directly inserts the implant in the patient without risking contamination: sterility is maintained for both the surgeon and the implant. In a preferred embodiment, the implant holder is configured to hold two pedicle screws and their set-screws.

Abstract: A technique for managing temporal data placement in data storage systems is disclosed. An application program interface (API) is provided, where a host application is configured to communicate sub-LUN data segment location, application configuration tiering, and timing parameter information to the API. The sub-LUN data segment location, application configuration tiering, and timing parameter information is transmitted to the data storage system via an out-of-band communications path. The sub-LUN data segment location, application configuration tiering, and timing parameter information is received at the data storage system and associated with the corresponding LUN. A timing estimate for implementing sub-LUN data segment relocation is generated based on system derived tiering information and recent relocation timing information.

The system and method for data verification using a smart phone generally includes a mobile device, a central validating server, and an activation client. The validating server and activation client are utilized upon initial activation of the mobile device to verify data information (i.e. name, date of birth, social security number, etc.) and/or biometric data regarding an individual and then flag the mobile device as activated and verified. The biometric data is not stored in any location other than the memory of the mobile device. The activated and verified mobile device may then be utilized in combination with a wide range of verification clients to easily verify data information and/or biometric data of an individual.
