  • Patent number: 10128609
Abstract: A water resistant connector assembly includes first and second connectors. Each connector has a housing and a water resistant seal. Each connector is formed in a two-shot operation with the housing being formed of polypropylene and the seal being formed of a thermoplastic elastomer. The seal of one of the connectors has a portion that is provided on an outer surface thereof and has ribs which fold over in a direction opposite a water ingression direction when the second connector is connected to the first convector, thereby creating a seal between the connectors when they are connected. The seals of each of the connectors are also provided at terminal/wire insertion areas, and these seals ensure proper insertion of the terminal/wires. These seals may further include strain relief portions to provide resistance to angularity of the wire.

  • Patent number: 5803765
Abstract: A surface mount electrical connector is adapted for mounting to the surface of a printed circuit board in either of two orientations generally perpendicular to each other. A molded dielectric housing has first and second board mounting faces disposed generally perpendicular to each other. A first boardlock-receiving passage is molded in the housing communicating with the first board mounting face and extending in a given direction which defines the direction of parting of a pair of mold dies for molding the housing. A second boardlock-receiving passage is molded in the housing generally perpendicular to the first passage and communicating with the second board mounting face. Each passage includes a set of bearing walls for engaging a boardlock member inserted into the respective passage, with no one bearing wall in either set thereof being in alignment with any other bearing wall in the other set thereof in said given direction.

  • Patent number: 5277611
Abstract: An arrangement is provided for connecting an electrical connector to a mating printed circuit board. The connector includes a dielectric housing having top and bottom walls joined by spaced apart side walls. An elongated slot is defined by the top and bottom walls for receiving the mating printed circuit board. A plurality of terminals are mounted in the housing with contact portions along the slot for engaging contact pads on the circuit board. At least one pair of aligned apertures pass through the top and bottom walls of the housing, and an aperture in the circuit board is adapted for alignment with the housing apertures when the circuit board is inserted into the slot. A fastener is received in the housing apertures and the aligned board aperture to maintain the board in mating relationship with the connector. The fastener is adapted to clamp against the top and bottom walls of the housing.

  • Patent number: 5149280
Abstract: A wire holding device is disclosed for holding a plurality of discrete electrical wires in a side-by-side relationship and to facilitate providing longitudinal strain relief for the wires. The device includes a housing, and a plurality of generally parallel retaining passages through the housing for axially receiving and substantially surrounding the wires to retain the wires in substantially all radial directions. A plurality of access windows extend through the housing transversely of the retaining passages to provide access to the wires in the passages by an appropriate bending tool. Each retaining passage has a cavity opposite each respective window and into which a portion of a respective wire can be bent laterally of its axis so that the bent portion of the wire provides longitudinal strain relief for the wire.
