Abstract: A vented speaker system including a rectangular speaker box having a top wall and an opposing bottom wall, a front wall and an opposing back wall, and a pair of opposing sidewalls and a vent formed in the front wall. A speaker is positioned within the speaker box and mounted to the front wall. A flanged or otherwise folded vent tube is disposed within the speaker box, fluidically connecting the interior of the box to the exterior of the box. The system is tuned to a lower frequency by extending the effective path length of the vent tube longer than the maximum linear dimension available within the enclosure.
