  • Publication number: 20140276348
Abstract: A siphon guard includes a housing having an inlet and an outlet. A primary flow path is disposed within the housing and is in fluid communication with the inlet and the outlet. A secondary flow path is disposed within the housing and is in fluid communication with the inlet and the outlet. The secondary flow path has a higher resistance to fluid flow than the primary path. A valve is disposed within the primary flow path. The valve has a valve seat and a first ball and a second ball. The first ball is movable by gravity between a valve closed position, where the first ball is in contact with the valve seat, and a valve open position, where the first ball is spaced from the valve seat. The first ball is disposed between the second ball and the valve seat. The second ball is movable by gravity between a valve closed position and a valve opened position.

  • Publication number: 20140277151
Abstract: Systems and methods for manipulating a spinal construct are provided herein. In general, the system includes first and second sleeves extending from vertebrae and a fulcrum that can be releasably coupled to the sleeves. In certain aspects, the fulcrum can receive a portion of the sleeves therein and can allow the sleeves to pivot about the fulcrum in response to an applied force. The fulcrum can releasably couple to the sleeves in a variety of ways, and a position of the fulcrum relative to the sleeves can vary depending on whether there is an applied distracting, compressing, and/or derotating force. In some embodiments, user can manipulate the first and second sleeves relative to the fulcrum, using one hand, to distract, compress, and/or derotate the vertebrae.

  • Publication number: 20130226303
Abstract: An intervertebral implant for fusing vertebrae is disclosed. The implant may have a body with curved, posterior and anterior faces separated by two narrow implant ends, superior and inferior faces having a plurality of undulating surfaces for contacting vertebral endplates, and at least one depression in the anterior or posterior face for engagement by an insertion tool. The implant may also have one or more vertical through-channels extending through the implant from the superior face to the inferior face, a chamfer on the superior and inferior surfaces at one of the narrow implant ends, and/or a beveled edge along a perimeter of the superior and inferior faces. The implant configuration facilitates transforaminal insertion of the implant into a symmetric position about the midline of the spine so that a single implant provides balanced support to the spinal column. The implant may be formed of a plurality of interconnecting bodies assembled to form a single unit.

  • Publication number: 20130204288
Abstract: An occlusive device suitable for endovascular treatment of an aneurysm in a region of a parent vessel in a patient, including a structure having a pre-established pore features and having dimensions suitable for insertion into vasculature of the patient to reach the region of the aneurysm in the parent vessel. The device further includes a frangible material associated with the pore features which initially provides a substantial barrier to flow through the frangible material and is capable of at least one of localized rupturing and localized eroding, in the presence of a pressure differential arising at an ostium of a perforator vessel communicating with the parent vessel, within an acute time period to minimize ischemia downstream of the perforator vessel.
