  • Patent number: 4428855
Abstract: High water content fluids, i.e. oil-in-water emulsion hydraulic fluids are stabilized and/or made resistant to hard water by a co-emulsifier system consisting of water soluble alkyl alkanol amines or a heterocyclic amine.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 25, 1982
Date of Patent: January 31, 1984
    Assignee: Mobil Oil Corporation
Inventors: Derek A. Law, Joosup Shim
  • Patent number: 4419251
Abstract: A lubricant concentrate is provided for forming stable, translucent oil-in-water emulsions upon dilution with a major part of water. The concentrate comprises a suitble base oil with a combination emulsifier/dispersant system and antiwear/antirust inhibitor system. Typical emulsifier/dispersants include the metal soaps of rosin acids, the alkylene oxide condensation products of a fatty amine or the reaction product thereof with a polyalkenylsuccinic acid or anhydride. Zinc dialkyldithiophosphates and metal dialkylnaphthalene sulfonates are useful antiwear and antirust inhibitors.

    Assignee: Mobil Oil Corporation
Inventors: Joosup Shim, Derek A. Law
  • Patent number: 4257775
Abstract: The invention deals with the determination of water content in many systems, as the basis for the method, as, for example, in oil- and water-containing emulsions, using adsorbent solids and the temperature rise caused upon adsorption of water thereby.
    Type: Grant
