  • Patent number: 11331209
Abstract: In one embodiment, a torque-compensating assistive wrist brace includes a hand member adapted to be provided on a user's hand, a forearm member adapted to be provided on the user's forearm, and an assistive linkage that connects the hand and forearm members together, the assistive linkage being configured to apply a balancing torque to a wrist of the user that counteracts intrinsic stiffness within the wrist and assists the user in rotating the wrist in both the flexion and extension directions.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 10, 2019
Date of Patent: May 17, 2022
Assignee: The Regents of the University of California
Inventors: Mark Plecnik, Derek Bissell, David Reinkensmeyer, J. Michael McCarthy
  • Publication number: 20210220545
Abstract: A system for pressure measurement within a surgical system is disclosed. The system comprises a pressure sensitive disc in communication with at least one applied pressure a magnetic field generator for generating at least one first magnetic field, and at least one sensor for measuring at least one second magnetic field, wherein the at least one first magnetic field at least partially creates the at least second magnetic field; and wherein the at least one sensor produces signal indicative of the distance between the at least one sensor and the at least one second magnetic field.

  • Publication number: 20180264242
Abstract: A wearable device for administering a pharmaceutical has a housing, a heart monitor disposed in the housing, a microprocessor connected to the heart monitor, a receptacle for holding a pharmaceutical disposed in the housing, the receptacle being in communication with a conduit leading out of the housing, an actuator connected to the receptacle and being configured to release the contents of the receptacle into the conduit upon a command from the microprocessor, and a power source disposed in the base body and being configured to power the microprocessor, the heart monitor and the actuator. The microprocessor is programmed to actuate the actuator to release the contents of the receptacle when a heart rate measured by the heart monitor falls outside a preprogrammed range.
