  • Patent number: 7561681
Abstract: An interactive system for managing and remotely monitoring and effecting the connection status of a customer utility load network is disclosed. Preferred embodiments of the interactive system are utilized for customer loads that correspond to the distribution of electrical energy. The interactive system is preferably provided through a web-based application that offers a plurality of selectable services to a user. Security information is preferably required for a user to gain access to the system. Services provided may comprise a read service for providing metered customer utility data, a usage and/or demand notification service for alarming a user when utility usage and/or demand exceeds a defined threshold amount, and/or a connection service for setting a utility load as either connected or disconnected. A control system is preferably provided in conjunction with the web-based application to interface the application to other components involved in the interactive system.

  • Patent number: 7210411
Abstract: A round of ammunition for firing from a gun having a rifled barrel, especially a small arms weapon. The projectile (1) forming a part of the round is of steel or other material having a Vickers Hardness value not less than 550, and has a coating (13) of copper or copper alloy. The projectile has a forward body portion (9) which has a diameter similar to that of the lands of the rifling, and a rearward body portion (3) having a diameter which is similar to the diameter defined by the roots of the rifling grooves. The coating (13) is of a thickness not less than the depth of the said rifling grooves, so that the rifling engraves the coating but does not significantly engrave the underlying steel or other hard material. The advantages associated with a hard projectile material are thus obtained without substantially increasing barrel wear.

  • Publication number: 20050000385
Abstract: Described herein is a round of ammunition for firing from a gun having a rifled barrel, especially a small arms weapon. The round comprises a body core (7) which has a plurality of knurl lines (9) and associated grooves (6) formed over a portion of the body core (7). Jacket material (11) is provided over the body core (7) such that the inner diameter (10) of the jacket material (11) makes contact with the knurl lines (9). During firing of the round, the jacket material (11) deforms into the grooves (6) formed between the knurl lines (9) enabling the rifle engraving to take place with a substantially reduced axial force.
