  • Publication number: 20040042798
Abstract: An optical transceiver comprises a signal transmitter emitting an outgoing communication signal and transmit optics to transmit that includes a transmit telescope. The transceiver additionally comprises receive optics that includes a receive telescope to receive an incoming communication signal and a signal receiver. A dual-axis tilt mirror optically couples the signal transmitter to the transmit optics so that the outgoing communication signal is transmitted by the transmit telescope. The same dual-axis tilt mirror also optically couples the receive optics to the signal receiver so that the incoming communication signal is received by the signal receiver. Thusly configured, the angular orientation of the dual-axis tilt mirror simultaneously controls the reception and transmission orientations of the receive and transmit telescopes, respectively.

  • Patent number: 6667831
Abstract: A compact telescope having a modified Gregorian design comprising three reflecting surfaces. The first reflecting surface is concave and is defined by an outer perimeter and an inner perimeter. The curvature of the first reflecting surface defines a focal plane of the first reflecting surface. The second reflecting surface is optically coupled to the first reflecting surface and is disposed between the first reflecting surface and the focal plane defined by the first reflecting surface. The third reflecting surface is concave and is disposed within the inner perimeter of the first reflecting surface. The curvature of the third reflecting surface is greater than the curvature of the first reflecting surface. The third reflecting surface is optically coupled to the first reflecting surface by the second reflecting surface. An aperture is disposed within the third reflecting surface. Thus light incident upon the first reflecting surface is directed through the aperture.

  • Patent number: 6117625
Abstract: A method of producing a composite image on an image recording medium from first and second component images, represented by digital image data, comprising the steps of converting the digital image data of each image into electromagnetic radiation image data; and forming the composite image by successively exposing the recording medium to the electromagnetic radiation image data of the first and second images so that the images are created on the medium in overlapping relationship to form a join region. The medium is doubly exposed, first by the image data of the first image and then by the image data of the second image. The intensity of the electromagnetic radiation representing the first image is progressively ramped off in the join region and the intensity of the electromagnetic radiation representing the second image is progressively ramped on in the join region.

  • Patent number: 5923359
Abstract: An optical recording and data processing system for exposing an image on to a flexible, light sensitive medium, which includes a medium holder having an inner cylindrical wall portion against which is held said medium, and a light source having an approximately rectangular emitting aperture, with a short aperture axis and a long aperture axis, operative to emit a beam of light having a rectangular cross section with a long axis corresponding to the long aperture axis and a short axis corresponding to the short aperture axis. An optical modulator is aligned with the light source so as to intercept light from the beam of light and produce a spatial modulation pattern across the long axis of the beam of light. A pattern shifter for shifting the spatial modulation pattern across the length of the long axis at a constant rate is provided as is a pattern rotator for rotating the spatial modulation pattern at a rate equal to the rate of shifting of the spatial modulation pattern.
