Patent number: 8954430Abstract: Various systems, methods, and programs embodied in computer-readable mediums are provided for saving search results. A representative example includes receiving an indication of a selected first search result. The selected first search result included in a first plurality of search results matching a first search criteria. This example also includes aggregating the selected first search result and a second plurality of search results matching a second search criteria, and providing the aggregated search results.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 2007Date of Patent: February 10, 2015Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventor: Derek Gaw

Publication number: 20130344963Abstract: A system, computer-readable storage medium storing at least one program, and a computer-implemented method for providing synchronous multiplayer games are presented. To begin, an enabling request for multiplayer functionality in a multiplayer instance that includes a single player mode game is received. The single player mode game may involve a game board dedicated to a first player. Then, the single player mode game of the multiplayer instance is matched with additional multiplayer instances. Each additional multiplayer instance includes a corresponding single player mode game dedicated to a respective player. The single player mode games from the multiplayer instance and the additional multiplayer instances are then instructed to initiate gameplay at substantially the same time. Final scores from the single player mode games from the multiplayer instance and the additional multiplayer instances are collected. A game summary page is finally communicated to the first player and the respective players.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 21, 2013Publication date: December 26, 2013Inventors: Diwakar Gupta, Michael Shim, Chih-Jen Huang, Derek Gaw, Ivann Alvarado, Jason Paul Allen

Publication number: 20130324240Abstract: A system, machine-readable storage medium storing at least one program, and a computer-implemented method for icon optimization in a game user interface is provided. A request from a client device to access a game user interface of a player may be received, where the game user interface is associated with one or more computer-implemented games hosted by a game networking system. A first manner of displaying one or more icons each representing a computer-implemented game of the one or more computer-implemented games is determined. The first manner of displaying the one or more icons within the game user interface is determined based on one or more game-related factors specific to the player. Display data to display the one or more icons in the first manner may be generated and provided to the client device.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 1, 2013Publication date: December 5, 2013Applicant: Zynga Inc.Inventors: Michael Shim, Jason Paul Allen, Derek Gaw, Jaime Dughi, Gopi Prashanth

Patent number: 8010624Abstract: The number of connections and/or requests needed to obtain or provide image content in an electronic environment can be reduced by dynamically composing the content when needed to serve a request. In a case where a large number of images are to be transmitted across a network, the images can be determined at the time of the request for transmission and can be composed into a single, master image. Positional information for the images can be stored and sent with the master image to a device requesting the transmission. Using the positional information with dimensional information for the images, the device is able to use an application such as cascading style sheets (CSS) sprites to extract each of the plurality of images, thus obtaining all the images using a single request and single connection. Multiple master images can be used if appropriate.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 2008Date of Patent: August 30, 2011Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Sean M. Scott, Derek Gaw

Publication number: 20070094325Abstract: Hybrid peer-to-peer data communication and management is described, including querying a plurality of elements in an environment for state data, the state data describes a state of the environment and an activity occurring in the environment, receiving the state data from one or more of the plurality of elements in response to the querying, analyzing the state data to determine an environmental change, the updated state data is generated describing the environmental change, and using the updated state data to modify the environment by dynamically allocating the plurality of elements to process a simulation, the plurality of elements being dynamically allocated based on available processing capacity provided by the plurality of elements.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 21, 2005Publication date: April 26, 2007Applicant: Nucleoid Corp.Inventors: Ronald Ih, William Sumerlin, Derek Gaw, Sung Hwan Chung
