Abstract: Apparatus for the treatment or prevention of osteopenia and osteoporosis, stimulating bone growth, preserving or improving bone mineral density, and inhibiting adipogenesis are disclosed herein. The wearable apparatus may generally comprise a housing containing a motor and one or more vibrating elements which are configured to impart repeated mechanical loads to a body of a user when actuated by the motor, one or more securing mechanisms for securing the housing to the user such that the housing is maintained against the body while maintaining portability, a first accelerometer in proximity to the motor, a controller in electrical communication with the first accelerometer, wherein the controller is configured to determine a 10 vertical orientation of the motor relative to horizontal based on a first signal from the first accelerometer and wherein the controller is further configured to provide an indicator when the vertical orientation of the motor is beyond a threshold limit.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for personal isolation and/or protection are disclosed. In one variation, the system may include a passive filtration component having a mask configured for positioning over a mouth and/or nose of a user, wherein the mask has at least one portion configured to filter air passing through the at least one portion. An active filtration component having a fan may be included, wherein the active filtration component is configured to filter air entering or exiting the active filtration component via the fan, and a hose fluidly coupled between the passive filtration component and the active filtration component such that the active filtration component is remote from a face of the user when in use.

The ultrasound transducer is activated and the activity across the transducer is measured to determine whether the activity at any area does not meet an acceptance criteria. The transducer is then modified so that the area meets the acceptance criteria. The transducer may be modified with a laser which removes material from the area which does not meet the acceptance criteria.
