    Abstract: An apparatus applies a charge to an imaging member, such as a photoreceptor in a xerographic printer. A shield is disposed to be operatively interposed between a non-imaging portion of the imaging member and a portion of the corona member, the shield being at least partially conductive, and in one embodiment, grounded. The shield prevents the accumulation of stray toner particles.
