  • Patent number: 12758126
Abstract: A wearable device is used to determine a glucose value for a portion of a user's body based on carbon dioxide emitted from the skin at the location of the wearable device. The device housing includes openings for carbon dioxide emitted by the user to enter and exit and may control accumulation of carbon dioxide within the housing using a valve, or allow carbon dioxide in the housing to reach an equilibrium value before determining a glucose value. Other sensors may be used to determine physiological or environmental factors, such as ambient carbon dioxide or increased respiration of the user, responsive to which a modifier may be applied to the determined glucose value.

  • Publication number: 20250263522
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to methods of forming polymer beads in a continuous or in-line manner (i.e., not a batch manner). The methods generally include providing or forming a sol solution followed by gelation through addition of a gelation initiator. To form the beads, an oil phase or a sol-immiscible solvent, optionally in the presence of a surfactant is combined with the sol to create an emulsion. In general, one or more continuous processing parameters (e.g., mixing speed, pressure, recirculation, etc.) is controlled to form uniformly sized polymer beads. The polymer beads formed in the continuous process can then be transported to downstream manufacturing stations (e.g., carbonization stations, drying stations, etc.). Methods of the present technology are advantageous in that the methods can be incorporated into commercial scale production procedures and methods allowing for more efficient manufacturing of beads, aerogels, and products incorporating the polymer beads.

  • Publication number: 20180218848
Abstract: A supercapacitor includes an electrode comprising activated carbon and carbon black particles containing less than or equal to about 100 ppm of calcium. A method includes treating base carbon black particles to form treated carbon black particles containing less than or equal to about 100 ppm of calcium; and using the treated carbon black particles to form an electrode of a supercapacitor. Carbon black particles having a Brunauer, Emmett and Teller (BET) surface area ranging from 650 m2/g to 2,050 m2/g, and comprising less than or equal to about 100 ppm of calcium.
