  • Publication number: 20150137508
Abstract: A sleeve for sealing an annular gap between opposed co-axial surfaces of a slip joint includes a tubular body formed from a metallic material and having a first end, a second end, a center section between the first and second ends, and a longitudinal cross-sectional profile having a plurality of bendable curves. The sleeve is shaped so that two or more of the bendable curves contact each opposed coaxial surface to form two or more circumferential lines of contact with each opposed coaxial surface. The sleeve further includes a self-protective oxide undercoat layer that protects the metallic material and a lubricous overcoat layer that provides lubricity to the contact surfaces when the sleeve is exposed to temperatures greater than about 600° C.

  • Patent number: 8783446
Abstract: An assembly for replacing the top sigma sections in a tail drive of an armored face conveyor is described. The assembly joins the sigmas to the top deck in a single unit, providing more robust mounting support. The assembly may also include one or more mounting pins, as well as one or more access doors. The assembly requires no welding to the tail drive.

  • Patent number: 8518162
Abstract: A method is described for treating gas exhaust from a polysilicon etch process, which uses a plasma abatement device to treat the gas. The device comprises a stainless steel gas chamber having a gas inlet for receiving the gas and a gas outlet. As the gas may contain a halocompound and water vapor, the chamber is heated to a temperature that inhibits adsorption of water on the surface within the chamber, thereby inhibiting corrosion of the gas chamber. The gas is then conveyed to the gas chamber for treatment, and the temperature of the chamber is maintained above said temperature during treatment of the gas.

  • Patent number: 8455261
Abstract: A method of measuring the concentration of a halogen in a gas stream using measurement means unsuitable for the direct measurement of halogens in a gas stream includes the step of passing a gaseous conversion compound to the halogen containing gas stream to convert the halogen to a detectable gaseous compound.

  • Patent number: 7833503
Abstract: A method for scrubbing a halogen-containing gas, comprises contacting the halogen-containing gas with water at a temperature of at least 30° C., the gas optionally subsequently being subjected to a further treatment step comprising contacting it with water at a temperature of less than 30° C. and/or a gas dilution step. An apparatus for carrying out the method comprises a hot wash chamber (6) and optionally a cold wash chamber (7) and/or a gas dilution device (13).

  • Patent number: 7565210
Abstract: The present invention provides methods of, computer programs for and apparatus for control and/or observation of a device with communication capabilities by a controller device with hypertext or hypermedia communication capabilities. More particularly, but not exclusively, the present invention relates to methods of, computer programs for and apparatus for control and observation of a consumer electronics device with communications capability from a mobile controller device with hypertext or hypermedia communications capability over a proximity bearer.

  • Publication number: 20070007911
Abstract: A light fixture includes multiple sets of light-producing devices, such as bulbs. A first set of bulbs is illuminated. When one or more bulbs in the first set of bulbs fails, the failure is detected, and a second set of bulbs is illuminated: If a number of good bulbs remaining falls below a predetermined threshold, the light fixture provides a notification that a bulb change is required. The notification may include visual, audio, or electronic notification. By providing multiple sets of bulbs and a controller to detect a bulb failure and automatically switch to a different set of bulbs, the light fixture and method of the preferred embodiments provide high-reliability lighting that automatically compensates when a bulb burns out.

  • Publication number: 20060085581
Abstract: A computer system and method inhibit interruption of a user that is actively using the computer system. A user is actively using the computer system if the user has provided defined input within a time period specified in a “do not disturb” specification. For example, if the time period in the “do not disturb” specification is set to ten seconds, a user will not be interrupted by a potential interrupting event if the user has, for example, pressed a keyboard key or clicked a mouse key within ten seconds of the potential interrupting event. In this manner a user that is actively using a computer system will not be interrupted by potential interrupting events. In a first embodiment, the do not disturb mechanism is defined globally in the operating system. In a second embodiment, each software application may include a “do not disturb” specification.
