Patent number: 10823324Abstract: Method of lining a tubular structure with a plastics liner pipe comprising the steps of: —temporarily reducing an outside diameter of the liner pipe by passing the liner pipe through a roller system; —cooling the liner pipe once its outside diameter has been reduced and applying a thermal restraint; —transporting the liner pipe to an installation site remote from the roller system; —removing said thermal restraint; and —installing the liner pipe in said tubular structure at said installation site.Type: GrantFiled: October 13, 2015Date of Patent: November 3, 2020Assignee: RADIUS SYSTEMS LIMITEDInventor: Derek Muckle

Publication number: 20180224027Abstract: A flexible pipe connector (200) for joining a pressurised mains pipe to a service pipe, the connector comprising: • a corrugated longitudinal body portion (202) having a first end (208), a second end (210) and an internal bore therebetween, said longitudinal body portion further comprising a plurality of corrugations spaced along the length thereof, the corrugations defining a maximum internal diameter of the bore at a peak 204 of a corrugation and a minimum internal diameter of the bore at a trough (206) of a corrugation; • a first spigot socket (212) at said first end of the longitudinal body portion; and • a second spigot socket (214) at said second end of the longitudinal body portion; • wherein for a defined volumetric flow rate, the head loss of a fluid flowing through said body portion is no greater than if the fluid were flowing in a smooth bored pipe of the same length and having the same internal diameter as the first and second spigot sockets; and • wherein the minimum internal diameter of said corType: ApplicationFiled: June 23, 2016Publication date: August 9, 2018Inventor: Derek MUCKLE

Patent number: 9182059Abstract: An adaptor assembly to be fitted onto a service pipe comprising a host pipe lined with a lining pipe is provided. The adaptor assembly includes a body to seal with the host pipe, a bore extending along a longitudinal axis of said body, and a compression element mountable on and displaceable relative to the body. The adaptor assembly includes an axially translatable piston, an annular flange protruding into said bore, and a grip ring disposable between said piston and said flange and having an inner radial surface to grip an outer radial surface of the lining pipe. A slip spacer is disposable between the compression element and the piston to transmit axial load but substantially prevent transmission of torque therebetween. The compression element is moveable to axially displace the piston causing the grip ring to bear against the inclined annular flange and grip radially inwardly against the outer radial surface.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 2011Date of Patent: November 10, 2015Assignee: Radius Systems LimitedInventors: Derek Muckle, Andrew Jenner

Patent number: 6051088Abstract: Method of lining a pipe. An outer pipe of ferrous metal is lined with a lining pipe of crosslinked polyethylene which is initially provided as a precursor lining pipe. The precursor lining pipe is initially made of cross-linked polyethylene with an external diameter equal to the internal diameter of the outer pipe. The initial pipe is then drawn through a die to form a pipe with a smaller diameter. The material of the pipe is memory material so that when it is melted it automatically expands to the original size. The precursor pipe is inserted into the outer pipe and melted by drawing a burner through it. The burner burns fuel gas supplied with combustion air through a hose by which the burner is towed. Hot products of combustion melt the polyethylene causing the precursor lining to expand automatically into the lining pipe. This is supported by gas pressure of a desired value inside the lining pipe until the polyethylene solidifies on cooling.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 1999Date of Patent: April 18, 2000Assignee: BG plcInventors: Derek Muckle, Zahid Shah
