  • Patent number: 12116141
Abstract: An aircraft emergency power unit (EPU) includes a battery powered subsystem that replaces toxic hydrazine fuel use. The battery of the battery powered subsystem is utilized to supply power to an aircraft electrical system in the event of a failure of the EPU turbine-powered generator. The battery of the battery powered subsystem is also utilized to supply power to an electric hydraulic motor pump in the event of a failure of the EPU turbine-powered hydraulic pump (or to augment the output of the EPU-turbine-powered hydraulic pump). The battery of the battery powered subsystem is capable of simultaneously powering the electrical system and the electric hydraulic motor pump or of powering either one of the electrical system and electric hydraulic motor pump independently based upon aircraft fault conditions. Intermittent operation of the electrical system and/or the electric hydraulic motor pump in an intermittent fashion on an as-needed basis is also possible.

  • Patent number: 11778946
Abstract: A flexible harvesting header having multiple sections supported by support arms, with the height of each arm being adjustable in response to a changing load. Load sensors at first ends of the arms sense loads and generate electronic load signals. Hydraulic cylinders at second ends of the arms are actuatable to raise and lower the first ends. A controller receives the load signals, determines whether actuating one or more of the hydraulic cylinders is warranted due to a changing load, and if so, changes a hydraulic pressure to raise or lower the first ends to offset the changing load. Actuation may be warranted if the changing load exceeds a predetermined value. Further, the entire flexible cutter bar may be raised in response to an electronic raise signal, and the controller may actuate all of the hydraulic cylinders to raise the front ends of all of the support arms.

  • Patent number: 10823981
Abstract: A deformable membrane assembly comprises an at least partially flexible fluid-filled envelope, one wall of which is formed by an elastic membrane that is held around its edge by a resiliently bendable supporting ring, a fixed support for the envelope and selectively operable means for causing relative movement between the supporting ring and the support for adjusting the pressure of the fluid in the envelope, thereby to cause the membrane to deform. The bending stiffness of the ring varies round the ring such that upon deformation of the membrane the ring bends variably to control the shape of the membrane to a predefined form. The moving means comprise a plurality of ring-engaging members that are arranged to apply a force to the ring at spaced control points.
