  • Patent number: 5109095
Abstract: Liquid organosiloxane MTQ resins of the general formula [M.sub.x T.sub.y Q.sub.z ].sub.n wherein M denotes a monofunctional, T a trifunctional and Q denotes a tetrafunctional siloxane unit is characterized by the fact that n has an average value of from 4 to 14, x+y is not less than z and not more than 2 z and x/y has a value of from 2/1 to 9/1. The resin molecule has at least one reactive substituent as defined and can be made by a method comprising (I) adding together a tetraalkoxysiloxane, a monoorganosilane and a triorganosilane or hexaorganodisiloxane in an acidified aqueous medium provided the tetraalkoxysilane is not added to the aqueous medium prior to the other components, (II) allowing the components to react together in said aqueous medium and, optionally (III) further reacting the finished resin with another compound having N atoms.

  • Patent number: 4785793
Abstract: A soldering tool comprising a soldering tip and a handle in which is housed a fuel gas reservoir. Gas is delivered from the reservoir through the handle to a permeable gas catalytic combustion element to heat the soldering tip. The catalytic element extends around a support member. Heat is conducted from the support member into the soldering portion of the tip.

  • Patent number: 4774310
Abstract: A method for making siloxane resins consisting essentially of tetravalent SiO.sub.2 units and monovalent R.sub.3 SiO.sub.0.5 and H.sub.a R.sub.3-a SiO.sub.0.5 units wherein each R denotes an alkyl group or an aryl group having less than 9 carbon atoms and a denotes 1 or 2, comprises reacting in the presence of an acidic catalyst a siloxane resin consisting essentially of R.sub.3 SiO.sub.0.5 units and SiO.sub.2 units with (H.sub.a R.sub.3-a Si).sub.2 O, where R and a are as defined above. Novel resins wherein only 0.1 to 30 percent of the monovalent units have SiH groups are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4521461
Abstract: Siloxane-polyester compositions comprising (1) a siloxane-polyester copolymer resin (2) one or more solvents for the siloxane-polyester copolymer, (3) a silane wherein one of the groups attached to silicon is an epoxy-substituted organic group, at least two of the remaining valencies of the silicon atom being satisfied by alkoxy or alkoxyalkoxy groups, and (4) a titanium chelate. The presence of (3) and (4) improves the rate of cure of the siloxane-polyester, and the compositions are useful for providing decorative and/or protective coatings on metals, plastics and other substrates.
