Publication number: 20050010175Abstract: A piston assembly (10) for a flowable materials container having a barrel (14) defining a fluid containing chamber (16). The barrel (14) is made of a body of a cyclic olefin containing polymer or a bridged polycyclic olefin containing polymer. An elastomeric piston (24) is slidably attached to the barrel (14) and provides a seal of the chamber. The piston (24) has a parylene coating on an outer surface thereof to reduce the necessary break away force. A plunger (22) is also provided and has a second mating member (42) removably connecting the plunger to a first mating member (44) of the piston. The first mating member (44) has a series of threads having a major diameter and a minor diameter, and the second mating member (42) has a series of threads having a major diameter and a minor diameter. The major and minor diameters of the second mating members (42) is appreciably smaller than the major and minor diameters of the other of the first mating member (44) to provide ease of connection.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 27, 2004Publication date: January 13, 2005Inventors: Daniel Beedon, Erin Lundtveit, Edwin Chim, Craig Sandford, Derek Walsh, Jennifer Ikeda, Carol Johns, Catherine Nguyen, James Rose, Atif Yardimci

Patent number: 5733887Abstract: Antiparasitic compounds of the formula (I) ##STR1## where the broken lines between the 3-4 and 4-5 positions represent optional bonds and either (i) the 3-4 optional bond is present; the 4-5 optional bond is absent, R.sup.7 is absent and R.sup.6 is halogen atom, an isothiocyanate group, a diazo group, a thioureido group of formula NHCSNR.sup.15 R.sup.16 where R.sup.15 and R.sup.16 are independently H, C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl groups, an azido group or a C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkylcarbonyl-thio group, or (ii) the 4-5 optional bond is present, the 3-4 optional bond is absent, R.sup.6 is absent and R.sup.7 is a mercapto, C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkylthio, oxo, optionally substituted oximino or C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkylcarbonylthio group; or R.sup.7 is absent and R.sup.6 is CN, with the provisos that the compounds where R.sup.6 is .alpha.-fluoro and R.sup.2 is CH(CH.sub.3).sub.2, CH(CH.sub.3)C.sub.2 H.sub.5, C(CH.sub.3).dbd.CHCH.sub.3, C(CH.sub.3).dbd.CHC.sub.2 H.sub.5 and C(CH.sub.3).dbd.CHCH(CH.sub.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 1995Date of Patent: March 31, 1998Assignee: Pfizer Inc.Inventor: Nigel Derek Walshe

Patent number: 5723488Abstract: A compound of formula (I): ##STR1## wherein the broken lines represent independently optional bonds, R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 being absent when the C.sub.22 -C.sub.23 double bond is present.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 1996Date of Patent: March 3, 1998Assignee: Pfizer Inc.Inventor: Nigel Derek Walshe

Patent number: 5098385Abstract: A disposable infuser is provided having a source of pressurized liquid contained in a liquid chamber (14). The liquid chamber (14) includes housing (20) defining an access aperture (83). A one-way duck-bill valve (80) is contained in the access aperture (83). A separate outlet conduit (84) is provided having a blunt cannula (98). When the outlet conduit (86) is attached to the housing (20), the blunt cannula (98) extends into the duck-bill valve (80) sufficiently to open the duck-bill valve (80) to establish fluid communication between the source of pressurized liquid (14) and the outlet conduit (84).Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 1990Date of Patent: March 24, 1992Assignee: Baxter International Inc.Inventor: Derek Walsh

Patent number: 4904239Abstract: An infusor (10) is disclosed for dispensing a liquid under pressure at a predetermined flow rate. The infusor (10) includes a housing (12) containing an elastomeric bladder (16) for receiving the liquid under pressure. The liquid is delivered from the bladder to a patient through tubing (36). A non-adjustable, preselected flow regulator (38) includes a capillary bore (48). The flow regulator (38) is disposed at the distal end of the tubing (36), such that the tubing may be primed quickly, in a time period virtually unaffected by the flow regulator (38). Distal placement of the flow regulator (38) results in a more constant temperature, and thus a more constant flow rate, of fluid flowing through the flow regulator.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 1988Date of Patent: February 27, 1990Assignee: Baxter International Inc.Inventors: David A. Winchell, Derek Walsh
