  • Patent number: 8167530
Abstract: Examples of a robotic de-palletizer and a robotic magazine loader are described herein. The robotic de-palletizer is configured to remove cases (e.g. HSC (half slotted cases) filled with product (e.g. disassembled cartons)) and to place the HSC on one or more conveyors. The conveyor(s) move the full HSC from the “de-palletizing” area to a magazine-loading area for processing by a robotic magazine loader. In one example of the robotic magazine loader, HSC containing unassembled cartons are removed from the conveyor. The contents of the HSC are added to a magazine feeding a carton assembling and filling machinery and the empty HSC is conveyed to a discard location.

  • Publication number: 20070293383
Abstract: Several implementations of a fan folding mechanism for folding flaps of a case into a fan fold arrangement are disclosed and described. In one implementation, the fan folding mechanism comprises four shoes, arranged to allow one shoe to contact a flap on each of four sides of the case. A finger, carried by each of the four shoes is configured for movement between a retracted position and an extended position, such that in the retracted position, each finger is in contact with a leading corner of a different flap of the case and the flaps are in an open position and in the extended position, each finger is in contact with the same leading corner of the same flap, and the flap is in the closed position. Four suction cups, each configured for releasable attachment to a trailing corner of a flap, may inhibit contention between flaps.

  • Publication number: 20070147874
Abstract: An apparatus and method for removing waste sheets from a sheet feed apparatus, removes waste sheets in a ergonomic manner. The bottom sheet or sheets from a stack of sheets is moved from an input hopper to a waste hopper. An accumulation of sheets in the waste hopper are rotated to an on-end orientation for convenient removal from the sheet feed apparatus. A conveyor may be provided to convey the on-end waste sheet out of the sheet feed apparatus. Sensors and alarms may be provided to modify a user when the waste sheet hopper is full. An interlock mechanism may be provided to prevent waste sheets from being added to the waste sheet hopper when it is full or tilted for sheet removal.
