  • Publication number: 20130346537
Abstract: A rule-based system for utilizing available storage in combination with arbitrary transformations, such as compression or encryption, within an email system is disclosed herein. The system may include an event-based storage of messages in specific tiers of storage based on a subscriber's class-of-service, attributes of the message, or attributes of the attachments. An automated or administrator directed application of storage rules over an existing mailbox or set of mailboxes may also be implemented. A plurality of storage locations may be included in the system, and each may be associated with at least one of a type, protocol, or transformation to be applied.

  • Publication number: 20020199119
Abstract: A server downloads a program to a client for secure services such as secure email messaging. A one-time session key is generated by both the server and the client. There are a number of options for the client to obtain private keys, and where it is generated by the client it may be sent to the server for an escrow service. Time-varying authentication is achieved by the server transmitting a random value to the client and the client uses this value to transmit a password to the server. The server establishes a pre-registered state for the client to allow a message to be sent to a non-registered recipient. The server also downloads a library of components which are subsequently used by applications to generate user displays.

  • Patent number: 4943942
Abstract: Method of scheduling execution of transmit-side and receive-side procedures by a single processor in a full-duplex modem. Buffers of minimal size are employed in conjunction with the processor to guarantee no errors in the signal processing procedures. In one embodiment, transmit-side procedures are given priority so that if a transmit-enable signal is received, a receive-side procedure being executed by the processor is interrupted to allow execution of the transmit-side procedure. This priority is most useful because transmit-side procedures execute more rapidly than do receive-side procedures.

  • Patent number: 4931973
Abstract: Method and apparatus for processing digital signals represented as binary words, employing a portion of each word (a "slice") to afford appropriate accuracy. Particularly suited to medium- to high-speed telecommunications applications. In an exemplary transversal filtering operating application, only the high-order slice of the updated coefficient need be used to perform the filtering and yet provide adequate precision. Description of an architecture of a word-slice digital signal processor and applications to adaptive equalization and automatic gain control are provided.
