Publication number: 20170093026Abstract: Communication assemblies are disclosed which comprises, a chassis, ground plane and one or more antenna subassemblies. Antenna assemblies include LTE, WI-FI, AM/FM, GPS and SDARS antennas. Some or all antenna subassemblies may consist of a multi-antenna configuration with each antenna appearing visually as a blade. For subassemblies configured in a multi-antenna arrangement, blades are configurable at a spacing optimal to implement MIMO or path diversity for instance for WIFI or LTE communications schemes. A chassis mechanism can be provided which holds elements of the antenna subassemblies in place and also acts as a ground plane. One or more feed lines which lead from each antenna subassembly and out of the molded enclosure can also be provided. A housing is provided which follows the general contours of the antenna subassemblies and is comprised of a material transparent to the frequencies utilized by the antenna subassemblies. The housing can be shaped in an aerodynamic morphology.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 21, 2016Publication date: March 30, 2017Applicant: TAOGLAS GROUP HOLDINGSInventors: Christopher M. ANDERSON, Dermot O'SHEA, Ronan QUINLAN

Patent number: 9472852Abstract: An integrated MIMO antenna system is described wherein multiple antennas are fabricated on a single substrate. Antenna spacing and alignment is enhanced and controlled to a finer degree than with conventional discrete antenna fabrication techniques. Rotation of one or multiple antennas in relation to the other antennas in the system can be performed to within the accuracy of current photo-etching techniques. Metalized traces can be designed and etched on the single substrate and positioned between antenna elements to enhance inter-element isolation. The integrated MIMO antenna system can be fabricated on flexible printed circuit (FPC) material, or can be fabricated on rigid metallized substrate such as common FR4 materials. Portions of one or multiple antenna elements can be photo-etched on opposite sides of the substrate to provide an additional degree of freedom in terms of antenna placement, spacing, and rotation angle.Type: GrantFiled: May 31, 2012Date of Patent: October 18, 2016Assignee: TAOGLAS GROUP HOLDINGS LIMITEDInventors: Dermot O'Shea, Ronan Quinlan

Patent number: 8717240Abstract: A multi-angle ultra wide band antenna for electronic devices is disclosed. The said antenna cover all mobile bands worldwide: 700/850/900/1700/1800/1900 and 2100 MHz and with sufficient bandwidth to include the 2400 and 2500 MHz mainly used in wireless networks, having a radiated element supported by a first substrate and expanding into a spatial geometry for transmission and reception of radio signal. An antenna base has a plurality of first solder pads on a second substrate for physical attachment to a printed circuit board and a second solder pad electrically connected to a terminal of said antenna to radio circuitry feed point, with compatible surface mount technology. The first and second substrates are joined by a bending line as a single substrate, where the said first substrate is allowed to be bent relative to the plane of the said second substrate.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 2009Date of Patent: May 6, 2014Assignee: Taoglas Group HoldingsInventors: Javier Ruben Flores-Cuadras, Dermot O'Shea O'Shea, Rónán Quinlan

Publication number: 20130321212Abstract: A dual resonance monopole antenna is described wherein the antenna structure, ground connection conductor and transmission line are integrated onto a single substrate. The substrate can be of a thin, flexible type that provides for positioning one or both resonant sections of the dual resonant monopole in the plane of or orthogonal to the ground plane of the host device to provide flexibility in selecting impedance and radiation characteristics. The ground connection conductor is configured to work in conjunction with features etched into the ground layer of the host device to form a method of altering the impedance properties of one or multiple resonances of the monopole.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 4, 2012Publication date: December 5, 2013Applicant: TAOGLAS GROUP HOLDINGS LIMITEDInventors: Dermot O'Shea, Ronan Quinlan
