  • Patent number: 7111811
Abstract: A stand for supporting a hopper for applying joint compound to a drywall corner bead has first and second pairs of legs which cross over and are pivoted together at their crossover point in a scissors-like manner. Each pair of legs has a cross bar extending between its upper ends, and spaced connecting straps extend transversely between the cross bars in the deployed position of the stand, the connecting straps being of predetermined length to control the maximum spacing between the cross bars. Each connecting strap is slidably engaged with the respective cross bars for movement along the cross bars. A hopper is seated on top of the cross bars with a reduced length lower portion of the base extending downwardly between the cross bars. The two connecting straps are moved into engagement with opposite sides of the hopper base in order to support the hopper.

  • Patent number: 6907908
Abstract: A hopper apparatus for applying joint compound to corner beads has a hopper for holding a quantity of joint compound and a feeder apparatus secured across the lower end of the hopper. The feeder apparatus has a channel and a series of elongate feeder inserts for selectively securing in the channel. A first set of outside feeder inserts each have a generally V-shaped indented groove extending along their length for guiding an outside corner bead through the feeder apparatus, while a second set of inside feeder inserts each have a generally V-shaped ridge extending along their length for guiding an inside corner bead through the feeder. The feeder inserts in each set have grooves and ridges of different angles and corner shapes matching those of a plurality of different inside and outside corner beads, and are releasably secured in the channel.

  • Patent number: 5086598
Abstract: A wall edging system for strengthening the wall intersections of buildings replaces the conventional metal corner bead used on drywall joints. The principal element of the system is an extruded plastic strip having a thickened, arcuate central area and two outwardly extending flanges which are othogonally oriented to one another, so that the thickened central portion runs along the seam between the orthogonally intersecting walls, and the flanges extend outwardly along the thickened central portion to be nailed into the drywall to secure the strip to the edge. Means is provided for providing a purchase for the mud that is applied over the flanges, and in addition to the strip there are other pieces defining two-leg and three-leg inside and outside corners, these pieces having tongues extending from each of the legs which slip beneath the central, thickened portions of the adjacent linear strips to provide a secure meeting at the corner.
