  • Publication number: 20030008988
Abstract: A polymer of ethylene as a first monomeric component, with a high carbon number linear alpha olefin having at least five carbon atoms as a second monomeric component. At least one of the monomeric components is Fischer-Tropsch derived so that it includes at least one other olefinic component. A process for producing the polymer is also provided.
    Type: Application
    Filed: January 29, 2001
    Publication date: January 9, 2003
    Applicant: SASOL TECHNOLOGY (PROPRIETARY) LIMITED
Inventors: Ioan Tincul, Dawid Johannes Joubert, Desmond Austin Young
  • Patent number: 6362377
Abstract: A process for modifying a wax comprising treating a wax to introduce a hydroxyl functionality, said treating being selected from the group consisting of grafting with an allyl alcohol, oxidizing the wax and hydrogenating the oxidized wax, reacting the wax with a peroxide and mixtures thereof, so as to form primary and/or secondary hydroxyl groups thereon, thereby to obtain a hydroxyl wax; and subjecting at least some of the hydroxyl groups of hydroxyl wax to alkoxylation to form a modified wax.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 14, 2000
Date of Patent: March 26, 2002
    Assignee: Schumann-Sasol (Proprietary) Limited
Inventors: Desmond Austin Young, Michelle Grant, Stefanus Johannes Strydom, Jacobus Lucas Visagie, Christiaan Frederick Reinecke, Nicolaas Russouw Louw
  • Publication number: 20020026017
Abstract: A polymer obtained from a first olefin having fewer than 4 carbon atoms, and a second olefin having a total number of carbon atoms greater than 5 and having an uneven number of carbon atoms. The molar proportion of the first olefin to the second olefin in the polymer is from 90:10 to 99.9:0.1. A process for producing the polymer is also provided.
    Type: Application
    Filed: May 23, 2001
    Publication date: February 28, 2002
    Applicant: SASOL TECHNOLOGY (PTY) LIMITED
Inventors: Ioan Tincul, Dawid Johannes Joubert, Ignatius Hendrik Potgieter, Desmond Austin Young
  • Publication number: 20010025091
Abstract: The invention provides a polymer of ethylene as a first component or monomer, with a branched olefin as a second component or monomer, and at least one different olefin as a third component or monomer. The olefins can be obtained from a Fischer-Tropsch process.
    Type: Application
    Filed: March 12, 2001
    Publication date: September 27, 2001
    Applicant: SASOL TECHNOLOGY (PROPRIETARY) LIMITED
Inventors: Ioan Tincul, Dawid Johannes Joubert, Desmond Austin Young
