  • Publication number: 20120150107
Abstract: Balloon catheters and methods for manufacturing catheter shafts are disclosed. In one example, a balloon catheter may include an outer tubular member disposed about an inner tubular member. In some cases, a fluid (e.g. cryogenic fluid) can be provided between the inner tubular member and the outer tubular member and may cool the inner tubular member. To help provide a relatively uniform temperature distribution around a circumference of the inner tubular member, two or more spacers, protrusions, or gap-maintaining members can be positioned between the outer tubular member and the inner tubular member to maintain a gap therebetween. In some cases, the spacers, protrusions, or gap-maintaining members may be attached to an inner surface of the outer tubular member or, in other cases, to an outer surface of the inner tubular member. In other embodiments, a step-down in an outer diameter of the outer tubular member is disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20120143130
Abstract: Methods and devices for biasing a balloon catheter are disclosed. In one example, a medical device may include a catheter shaft and a balloon assembly coupled to a distal region of the catheter shaft. The balloon assembly can define a chamber configured to be inflated and deflated using a fluid supplied from the catheter shaft. A biasing member may be positioned in the chamber of the balloon assembly and may be configured to bias the balloon assembly to a longitudinally extended state without obstructing an exhaust lumen of the catheter shaft. In some cases, the biasing member may be a spring. In other cases, the biasing member may be a coiled portion of a fluid supply line.

  • Publication number: 20120143131
Abstract: Methods and devices for bonding a balloon assembly, such as a balloon assembly including an inner balloon and an outer balloon, to a catheter shaft are disclosed. In some cases, a proximal waist of the inner balloon may be bonded to an interior surface of an outer tubular member of the catheter shaft and a proximal waist of the outer balloon may be bonded to an exterior surface of the outer tubular member. In other cases, the proximal waist of the inner balloon may be bonded to a reduced diameter portion of the outer tubular member of the catheter shaft and the proximal waist of the outer balloon may be bonded to the outer tubular member, such as a non-reduced outer diameter portion of the outer tubular member.

  • Publication number: 20120018831
Abstract: In accordance with at least some embodiments of the present disclosure, a process for fabricating a light pipe (LP) is described. The process may be configured to etch a first portion of a LP funnel in a dielectric layer of a semiconductor structure using a web etching process, wherein the dielectric layer is above a photodiode region. The process may also be configured to etch a second portion of the LP funnel in the dielectric layer subsequent to the etching of the first portion of the LP funnel, wherein the second portion of the LP funnel is etched below the first portion of the LP funnel using a dry etching process.

  • Publication number: 20110139968
Abstract: The present invention provides an image sensor. The image sensor comprises a plurality of pixels. Each pixel comprises an optical element and at least a dummy metal segment disposed above the optical element, wherein the dummy metal segment is not directly above the optical element. The image sensor includes a dummy metal segment with a size different from a size of another dummy metal segment included in the image sensor.

  • Publication number: 20110127412
Abstract: The present invention provides an image sensor. The image sensor comprises: a substrate, a plurality of optical elements, a first insulation layer, an anti-reflective coating (ARC) layer, a second insulation layer, and a color filter array. The optical elements are disposed in the substrate. The first insulation layer is disposed on the substrate and the optical elements. The ARC layer is disposed on the first insulation layer. The second insulation layer is disposed on the ARC layer. The color filter array is disposed on the second insulation layer, and the color filter array comprises a plurality of color filters corresponding to a plurality of different colors of light, respectively. The ARC layer comprises a plurality of sections directly below the color filters in a vertical direction, respectively, and the sections have different inherent reflection characteristics. The image sensor of the present invention can increase sensitivity and reduce crosstalk.

  • Publication number: 20110032391
Abstract: An image sensor with an active pixel array and peripheral dummy pixels is disclosed. The dummy pixels are located between (a) at least a portion of the active pixel array and (b) undesired or potentially interfering noise from a noise source. Outputs of the dummy pixels are coupled to float with respect to the active pixel array, thereby blocking the noise from being coupled into the active pixel array.

  • Publication number: 20100076402
Abstract: A catheter can include a shaft; an inflatable balloon having a proximal end that is anchored to an end of the shaft; an elongate member that is separate from and disposed inside the shaft, extends into an interior chamber of the balloon, and is anchored to a distal end of the balloon; and a spring member that exerts a distally-oriented longitudinal force on the elongate member, relative to the shaft, where the distally-oriented longitudinal force causes the balloon to be biased in an extended position, away from the end of the shaft. The catheter can further include a sheath that surrounds the shaft and balloon before a treatment procedure. The balloon can be configured to be advanced outside the sheath during a treatment procedure and inflated, and the spring member can be configured to facilitate deflation and withdrawal of the balloon into the sheath following the procedure.
