Patent number: 7146947Abstract: An arrangement for adjusting the angle of rotation of a camshaft (5) relative to a crankshaft is provided. The arrangement requires many components, which partially also require different operational conditions. The new arrangement is structured in a modular fashion, so that the components of the arrangement are no longer arranged inside a common housing, but rather are separately constructed according to their function and/or operational conditions, for example, they are used jointly by other control or adjustment devices. It is particularly advantageous that such arrangements can be produced in a reduced size and in a more cost effective manner and can be used for adjusting the valve play of internal combustion engines.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 2005Date of Patent: December 12, 2006Assignee: AFT Atlas Fahrzeugtechnik GmbHInventors: Dirk Neubauer, Detlef Axmacher, Markus Wilke, Massimiliano Gasparro, Frank Pachan, Lars Pfutzenreuter

Patent number: 7137370Abstract: A gear arrangement has two turntables nested or arranged concentrically in one another, and interconnected with one another via a swashplate. The gear arrangement preferably is used for adjusting the angle of rotation of the camshaft relative to the angle of rotation of the crankshaft of an internal combustion engine to affect the control times of the charge-cycle valves of the engine. The swashplate is connected with the first turntable formed as a camshaft gear via at least one pin, and the swashplate is connected with the camshaft via the second turntable by means of a gear ring.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 2003Date of Patent: November 21, 2006Assignee: AFT Atlas Fahrzeugtechnik GmbHInventors: Detlef Axmacher, Massimiliano Gasparro, Dirk Neubauer, Frank Pachan, Lars Pfuetzenreuter, Markus Wilke

Patent number: 7137311Abstract: A gearbox with an actuating device for automated shifting and selection of transmission ratios includes a gearbox operating element that is driven by an actuator. The actuator has a drive source with an output element. A swivel movement of the output element causes the gearbox operating element to shift into or out of a transmission ratio or to select one of the shift slots of a shift-gate pattern and to simultaneously apply a force to an energy-storing device. The energy-storing device acts on an intermediate element which acts on the gearbox operating element. At least one retaining element limits the actuation of the intermediate element to a predetermined position.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 1998Date of Patent: November 21, 2006Assignee: AFT Atlas Fahrzeugtecknik GmbHInventors: Dirk Neubauer, Dirk Heintzen, Detlef Axmacher

Patent number: 7036474Abstract: A control device and method for adjusting the angular velocity ratio (?N(t)/?K(t)) between a camshaft and a crankshaft is provided. Various control devices and methods for rotating the camshaft relative to the crankshaft provide a drive which may advance and retard the camshaft in comparison to the crankshaft. Previous systems have the disadvantage that either two drives in different directions are necessary for each actuation direction or the drive must have right-handed rotation and left-handed rotation. In the control device and the method according to the invention, the advancing of the camshaft is achieved by a drive in the running direction of the camshaft and the retarding is achieved by a braking device. It has been shown to be especially advantageous if an electric motor in two quadrant mode is used as the drive, which may then also be used as the braking device. Such a control device and method are required for setting the control times in internal combustion engines.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 2005Date of Patent: May 2, 2006Assignee: AFT Atlas Fahrzeugtechnik GmbHInventors: Detlef Axmacher, Massimiliano Gasparro, Dirk Neubauer, Frank Pachan, Lars Pfützenreuter, Markus Wilke

Publication number: 20050229881Abstract: A device for adjusting the phase position between a camshaft and a crankshaft is provided. A quick and precise electronic adjustment for mechanical adjustment devices for adjusting the phase position between a camshaft and a crankshaft have previously not been known. The adjustment device is a component of an electronic circuit, either automatically adjusting the desired phase position directly or indirectly via another parameter, with the circuit including at least one loop between the control device and the adjustment path, by which a quick and precise adjustment can be achieved. Such arrangements are needed for a quick and precise adjustment of the phase position of a camshaft in reference to a crankshaft in internal combustion engines.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 20, 2005Publication date: October 20, 2005Applicant: AFT Atlas Fahrzeugtechnik GmbHInventors: Dirk Neubauer, Detlef Axmacher, Markus Wilke, Massimiliano Gasparro, Frank Pachan, Lars Pfutzenreuter

Publication number: 20050145049Abstract: The invention relates to a gear with two turntables arranged into one another, which are interconnected via a swashplate, which gear preferably is used for adjusting the angle of rotation of the camshaft relative to the angle of rotation of the crankshaft of an IC engine. By adjusting these angles of rotation the control times of the charge-cycle valves in the valve clearance of the IC engine are affected. Here it is proposed to connect the swashplate with the first turntable formed as a camshaft gear via at least one pin, the swashplate being connected with the camshaft via the second turntable by means of a gear ring.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 20, 2003Publication date: July 7, 2005Inventors: Detlef Axmacher, Massimiliano Gasparro, Dirk Neubauer, Frank Pachan, Lars Pfuetzenreuter, Markus Wilke

Patent number: 6283007Abstract: A cylinder and piston unit, which can be utilized to select the gears of and/or to shift a change-speed transmission in the power train of a motor vehicle, has a housing provided with two internal chambers and internal stops and receiving a reciprocable assembly of three pistons including two interconnected pistons each adjacent a different one of the two chambers and a hollow cylindrical piston which surrounds one of the two interconnected pistons. The chambers can receive a pressurized hydraulic or pneumatic fluid jointly or independently of each other to thus effect movements of the interconnected pistons (with and/or relative to the holow piston) against selected stops and to thus select the positions of the interconnected pistons. Such interconnected pistons can be utilized to select the ratio of the change-speed transmission. The chambers can confine springs which assist or oppose the action of fluid upon the surfaces of the interconnected pistons.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 1999Date of Patent: September 4, 2001Assignee: AFT Atlas Fahrzeugtechnik GmbHInventors: Dirk Heintzen, Detlef Axmacher

Patent number: 6170352Abstract: An operating device for an automated gear box having a shift gate with a selector slot, three or more shift slots intersecting the selector slot, and an actuator for actuating a gear or shifting shaft in shifting motions. The shifting shaft has a pin or shaft extending through the shift gate. A blocking device with one or more blocking elements moveable generally along the selector slot allows movement of the pin to an adjacent shift slot and shifting within the shift slot by the actuator while blocking further movement of the pin along the selector slot upon engaging a blocking element.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 1998Date of Patent: January 9, 2001Assignee: AFT Atlas FahrzeugtechnikInventors: Dirk Neubauer, Klaus-Jörg Breuer, Detlef Axmacher
