  • Patent number: 6615466
Abstract: The invention relates to a tool head with a spindle bearing arrangement The bearings (9, 10) of said arrangement rest with one of their bearing shells on a driven spindle (2) with a tool holding fixture (1). With their other bearing shell they interact with a housing (8) in such a manner that in at least one part (10) of the bearings (9, 10) the respective other bearing shell interacts with a sliding piece (11) which is slideable along the housing (8) in the one sliding direction and which locks the spindle (2) with the housing (8) in a locking position. In the other sliding direction, said sliding piece releases the spindle in a release position. The invention provides a universally useful tool head by the following configuration: The respective other bearing shell of the one part (10) of the bearings (9, 10) is at least partially enclosed by the sliding piece (11). Said sliding piece (11) is forced into the locking position with a predetermined contact force by a drive device.

  • Patent number: 6241436
Abstract: An adjustment and/or alignment arrangement positions a toolholder (10) relative to a toolholder mounting (12) in machine tools in a pivot movement. An adjustment part (30) cooperates with a setting part (32). The setting part (32) is provided with a mounting housing (40), in which, counter to the effect of an accumulator (34), a guiding part (36) for the adjustment part (30) is guided longitudinally slidably. The guiding part (36) can be controlled by an operation part (38). The adjustment and/or alignment arrangement is of simple construction, and consequently, is of low cost, while to a great extent facilitates the desired adjustment simply and operationally securely.

  • Patent number: 5794917
Abstract: A valve is placed between two relatively movable parts, especially to control coolant flow in a tool turret. One part has a valve housing and a movable valve body within valve housing. The valve body has a sealing surface and a discharge opening, opening into the sealing surface. The other part has a valve seat with a seat surface and a valve passage opening into the seat surface. At least a portion of the area of the sealing surface lying adjacent to the discharge opening in the direction of movement of the two parts is of greater dimensions than the diameter of the valve passage. The valve has a wiper.

  • Patent number: 5758995
Abstract: A spindle head for tools with interior coolant feed can be inserted in a tool face with receiving and holding bores. A tensioning device for the spindle carries the shaft of the tool and is mounted rotatably in the spindle head housing by a spindle end segment. A coolant conduit is located in a spindle head cover on the tool side and above the spindle mounting. An annular groove open toward the spindle end segment is provided in the spindle head cover. A coolant feed passage opens into the annular groove. The end segment of the spindle has a connecting passage with one end opening in the annular zone of the outer surface of the end segment aligned with the annular groove and with another end opening in a chamber of the spindle. An inlet opening of the coolant passage in the shaft end of the tool is connected with the chamber. The annular groove is sealed on the outside by an exterior gap tightening and on the inside from the spindle mounting by an interior gap tightening.

  • Patent number: 5758399
Abstract: A tool turret has a turret housing and a hollow supporting column. A head is provided at one end of the supporting column. The other end of the supporting column is connected with the turret housing. A tool face is mounted rotatably relative to the head and is lockable with this head. The tool face has at least one recess for a tool. A torque overload protection arrangement is provided between the hollow supporting column and the head and/or between the hollow supporting column and the turret housing.

  • Patent number: 5727297
Abstract: A tool turret has a housing, a head connected nonrotatably with the housing, and a tool face arranged concentrically to and encompassing the head. The tool face is rotatable around the housing longitudinal axis relative to the housing and head, and is lockable in predetermined angular positions with the housing. A receiving and holding area for a drivable tool is provided in the tool face. A head shaft extends radially in the head relative to its central longitudinal axis. The head shaft can be driven through a miter-wheel gearing and a transmission shaft extending in the rotary axis of the tool face by a motor. A clutch is movable in a longitudinal direction along the head shaft axis relative to the driving shaft of a tool found in the work position, to join the head shaft and the tool shaft.

  • Patent number: 5720089
Abstract: A tool turret for machine tools has a turret housing and a turret head rotatably mounted in the turret housing about a rotary axis and lockable in selected angular settings relative to the turret housing. A carriage supports the turret housing and guides movement of the turret housing relative to a machine tool support in a Y direction transverse to the rotary axis. A carriage guide is on the tool support for guiding movement of the carriage. A carrier plate is part of the carriage, and extends in a plane defined by the Y direction and an X direction or a Z direction.
