  • Patent number: 7775327
Abstract: The invention relates to methods for stopping elevators especially when using at least one three-phase motor operated by a static frequency converter. According to the invention, a brake relay controls the brake of the motor such that releasing of the brake relay causes the motor to be decelerated while the brake relay is coupled to a protective circuit in such a way that the control pulses required for generating the driving motor field are safely blocked when the brake relay is released.

Date of Patent: August 17, 2010
    Assignee: Danfoss A/S

  • Patent number: 5704464
Abstract: A passenger sensor for a conveyor includes a transmitter assembly that is positioned within a channel in the conveyor balustrade. The transmitter assembly includes a plurality of transmitters that are spaced along a cable to form a transmitter chain. Each transmitter includes a module and a connector attached thereto. The transmitter assembly is disposed within the channel without the need for mounting hardware or openings within the balustrade for the passage of the cable. In a particular embodiment, a receiver assembly is disposed in a channel in the opposite balustrade in a similar manner.

  • Patent number: 5697485
Abstract: A control system for a passenger conveyor includes a plurality of junction boxes distributed throughout the conveyor and a control unit. The control unit communicates with the plurality of junction boxes through a serial link that interconnects the junction boxes and control unit. In a particular embodiment, the control unit is located remotely from the truss of the conveyor.

  • Patent number: 5482153
Abstract: An operation panel for a passenger conveying device having a balustrade is provided comprising a key switch, a key pad, and a processor. The key switch may be actuated into a plurality of switch positions by an independent key and the keypad may be used to input data into the processor. The processor, which processes data from external inputs and the keypad, includes a programmable memory selectively accessible by password. A first level of the processor is accessible without actuating the key switch from a first switch position or entering a password into the keypad. A second level of the processor is accessible by actuating the key switch into a second switch position. A third level of the processor is accessible by actuating the key switch into the second switch position and inputting a password to the processor through the keypad.

  • Patent number: 5431271
Abstract: An electronic indicator device 24 is disposed on the outer deck profile 20 of a passenger conveying device 10. The indicator device 24 includes a display 52 capable of displaying a symbol indicative of direction of operation and stopped operation of the passenger conveying device 10. The indicator device 24 comprises a post 30 attached at a lower end thereof to the outer deck 20 and having a display housing 42 attached at angle at an upper end of post 30. The electronic display 52 is disposed in the display housing 42. A base 26 is disposed on the outer deck 20 with the post 30 passing through an opening in the base 26. A transparent enclosure 44 having upper and lower openings is disposed over the base 26, the post 30 and the display housing 42, with the display 52 disposed within the upper opening of the enclosure 44.

  • Patent number: 4631467
Abstract: A variable-frequency, variable-voltage (VVVF) converter is interposed in the line between an AC source and an asynchronous escalator motor. Current to the motor is sensed to determine load in conjunction with a passenger detector and load simulating electronic system and the frequency and voltage of the converter are automatically adjusted in response thereto to control escalator speed. The system includes a converter to supply the asynchronous drive motor of the escalator with variable frequency and an appropriate control circuit for manual or automatic operation of the escalator at different speeds, which is equivalent to different motor frequencies.
