  • Patent number: 8377343
Abstract: The invention relates to a novel optical function layer and its production, the function layer imparting to materials coated with it protection against uv radiation while transmitting electromagnetic radiation of larger wavelengths. The function layer of the invention and the manufacturing method of the invention offer advantages over the state of the art by allowing very accurate and precise adjustability in the uv range of the relatively sharp absorption constant.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 7, 2004
Date of Patent: February 19, 2013
    Assignee: Justus-Liebig-Universität Giessen
Inventors: Bruno K. Meyer, Baker Farangis, Detlev Hofmann, Thorsten Krämer, Angelika Polity

  • Patent number: 6016715
Abstract: In a harmonic drive arrangement for the displacement of one component relative to another, a ball cage with cavities and balls movably disposed in the cavities is associated with one of the components and a transfer structure with conical recesses is associated with the other of the components adjacent the ball cage. The cavities are arranged in spaced rows and the conical recesses are arranged in rows spaced differently than the cavity rows. A pressure element with ascending and descending cam structures is movably disposed adjacent the ball cage to engage and move the balls into, and permit them to move out of, the recesses as the pressure element is moved along the ball cage to thereby provide for relative movement of the two components.

  • Patent number: 5042322
Abstract: In a harmonic drive arrangement wherein two relatively rotatable members are provided with oppositely arranged gear structures of different numbers of teeth such that the gear structures define therebetween wedge cavities of circumferentially varying cross sections, engagement balls are disposed in the wedge cavities and a biasing structure extends around the gear structure so as to be adapted to bias the balls sequentially inwardly into said wedge cavities and release them outwardly thereby causing relative motion of the two rotatable members.

  • Patent number: 4592246
Abstract: An infinitely variable transmission has its input and output shafts interconnected by at least two pairs of friction members for the transmission of motion therebetween. One of the members of each pair is a conical sleeve and the other is an ellipsoidal member which is received within the conical sleeve and is in frictional engagement therewith. One of the friction members is eccentrically supported by a support disc which is rotatable about an axis spaced from the axis of the other of the pairs of friction members so that rotation of the support disc changes the angle between the axis of the friction members of each pair so as to change the ratio of motion transmission.
