Publication number: 20240050958Abstract: An example device comprises: a heater; a temperature sensor to monitor changes in temperature caused by the heater; a mechanical device to move the heater between a sample position and a rest position; and a circuit communicatively coupled to the heater, the temperature sensor, and the mechanical device. The circuit is to: control the mechanical device to move the heater to the sample position; control the heater to heat at the sample position; monitor, via the temperature sensor, the temperature; and in response to the temperature meeting a temperature condition, control the mechanical device to move the heater from the sample position to the rest position.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 22, 2020Publication date: February 15, 2024Applicant: HP Health Solutions Inc.Inventors: Duane A. Koehler, Devin Knowles Michael, Devin Nichlos Koepl

Patent number: 11298897Abstract: A method of manufacturing a cured composite structure includes inserting a plurality of radius filler segments into a radius cavity extending along a length of an uncured composite base member to form an uncured structural assembly. The plurality of radius filler segments are placed in end-to-end arrangement within the radius cavity and each having opposing segment ends and being formed of a thermoplastic material. The method additionally includes heating the structural assembly at least to a base member cure temperature that causes the segment ends of end-to-end pairs of the plurality of radius filler segments to fuse together and form a continuous radius filler element that extends along the length of the composite base member. The method also includes allowing the structural assembly to cure to form a cured composite structure.Type: GrantFiled: July 24, 2019Date of Patent: April 12, 2022Inventors: Devin Knowles, Stanley Stawski

Publication number: 20200385223Abstract: An example apparatus includes a lift plate of a tray to hold a print medium. A support member is operatively connected to the lift plate. A sensor is attached to the support member to measure a distance of the lift plate from the sensor. A processor may receive a measurement of the distance of the lift plate from the sensor, and output an indicator describing an amount of print media in the tray based on the measurement of the distance of the lift plate from the sensor.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 17, 2017Publication date: December 10, 2020Inventors: Kevin Witkoe, Daniel E Quarto, Devin Knowles

Patent number: 10834987Abstract: Embodiments herein employ a novel strategy based on a floating cellular liner that acts as a torsional suspension system to dampen rotational acceleration, such as head acceleration in a helmet, in response to an oblique impact. Specifically, the torsional suspension consists of an anisotropic cellular liner that is at least partially recessed inside a more rigid adjacent shell, relative to which the cellular liner can simultaneously undergo translation and in-plane compression.Type: GrantFiled: March 3, 2017Date of Patent: November 17, 2020Assignee: Apex Biomedical Company, LLCInventors: Michael Bottlang, Steven Madey, Stanley Tsai, Jeffrey Bennett, Devin Knowles

Patent number: 10562322Abstract: An example assembly includes a first guide positioned in a pre-print zone area of an imaging device. A second guide rotatably is connected to the imaging device and spaced apart from the first guide to permit a print medium to traverse between the first guide and the second guide. A bearing mechanism connects the second guide to the imaging device in the pre-print zone area. An interface mechanism is operatively connected to the second guide. A bias element is positioned between the interface mechanism and the second guide to release energy upon exposing the interface mechanism to the pre-print zone area allowing rotation of the second guide away from the first guide.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 2017Date of Patent: February 18, 2020Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.Inventors: Daniel E. Quarto, Devin Knowles, Kevin Witkoe, Victor Bruhn, Teressa L. Roth
