Abstract: A method is provided for creating a Pseudo-prescription for over the counter items. A retailer infrastructure is provided that includes a point of sale server coupled to a store concentrator and to a product tables/price book(s). An adjudication processor and a claims processor with a process control server are also provided. A Pseudo-prescription is created that contains an NDC for each over-the-counter item being purchased prior to determining if the claims processor.

Upon a determination that the purchase amount is less than the amount in the closed loop account, determining if the value in the open loop account is greater than or equal to the deficit, and if so, deducting all value from the closed loop account and the deficit from the open loop account.

The adjudication processor system includes a switch, a market basket analysis server and a process control server. The market basket analysis server is used to validate items in a market basket. Content attributes of the market basket are communicated from the market basket analysis server to the switch. The switch, market basket analysis server, a catalog management server and the process control server are used for adjudication.

Abstract: Pursuant to some embodiments, a payment account including multiple subaccounts is provided where each subaccount can be used only for payment for a designated category of products. Pursuant to some embodiments, purchases using the subaccounts can be automatically combined in a single transaction to redeem multiple categories of products, with each subaccount providing funds for the redemption of a single product category. In some embodiments, the payment account may include a subaccount that contains value that is unrestricted and available for general spending or to automatically provide supplementary funds for the redemption of products from subaccounts with product category restrictions. The value contained within each subaccount may be immediately available funds, access to credit provided by an entity who has agreed to extend credit to the account holder for purchasing products in a designated category or a combination of these types of value.

Abstract: A point-of-sale system comprises a webserver that receives lists of products and services offered at retail points of sale, and that can sort them into items that are qualified, conditionally qualified, and non-qualified to be purchased by a cardholder using a flexible spending account payment card. The qualified items are permissible to be purchased by all cardholders, but purchases of conditionally qualified items are only permissible when the cardholder has registered a particular qualifying characteristic. For example, a health condition for which a doctor has prescribed the retail item for purchase. The demographics of the cardholders are available for affinity programs, promotional offers, discounts, and rebates. Such are proffered at the point of sale during transaction authorization to be considered by the cardholder or to be automatically exercised.

Abstract: A benefits ordering system provides flexible spending account debit cards to employees and allows their employer to enroll in a Plan that ensures compliance with ERISA regulations. The system applies compliance rules during a data collection and plan definition stages of ordering, and produces an ERISA-compliant Plan and documentation as legally required. A directed questioning and answering wizard guides companies and participants through the placing of orders for products. The particular sequence of questions is dependent on the products being ordered, and the parameters drive variations in the plans. Rules and parameters are built into libraries used by the system, and it is these that direct the information collection flow. Each type of Plan is constructed from previously composed paragraphs that are threaded together to encapsulate the parameters and include the required components. Plans can be modified, if new compliance rules must be met, based on changing parameters.
