  • Patent number: 11951792
Abstract: A detected displacement of a marker on a vehicle is determined based on image data captured while the vehicle traverses a displacement object of a ground surface. Then a health status of a suspension component of the vehicle is determined to be unhealthy based on comparing the detected displacement of the marker to a target displacement of the marker. The target displacement specifies displacement of the marker that indicates the suspension component is healthy. The vehicle is operated based on the suspension component being unhealthy.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 24, 2020
Date of Patent: April 9, 2024
    Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLC
Inventors: Devon Eyerman, Jonathan Barker, Dexin Wang, Austin James Jeffries
  • Patent number: 11676429
Abstract: A computer can be programmed to determine that an impact to a wheel of a vehicle exceeds an impact severity threshold and transmit a message describing the impact via a vehicle communications network. An electronic controller can be programmed to make an adjustment to monitoring the component based on receiving the message in the electronic controller.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 4, 2019
Date of Patent: June 13, 2023
    Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLC

  • Patent number: 10850768
Abstract: A computer includes a processor and a memory storing processor-executable instructions. The processor is programmed to record steering-system torque in response to a difference between a detected steering angle and a requested steering angle exceeding an angle threshold, increment a counter based on the recorded steering-system torque, and set a repair indicator in response to the counter exceeding a counter threshold.

  • Patent number: 10821947
Abstract: A computer includes a processor and a memory storing instructions executable by the processor to determine at least one of a vehicle pitch or a longitudinal center of gravity from data measured while deactivating a first brake for a first axle and applying a second brake for a second axle, and operate the vehicle based on the at least one of vehicle pitch or longitudinal center of gravity. The instructions may further include to determine a vehicle weight from the data, and operate the vehicle based on the vehicle weight.

  • Publication number: 20200005553
Abstract: A computer includes a processor and a memory storing processor-executable instructions. The processor is programmed to determine a deviation between a predicted value and one of a sensed steering angle and a sensed steering torque of a vehicle, output a service request in response to the deviation exceeding a first threshold, and perform a minimal risk condition in response to the deviation exceeding a second threshold.
