  • Patent number: 10606181
Abstract: The toner composition of the present invention and method to make the same includes toner particles mixed with a specific set of extra particulate additives including large colloidal silica sized 90 nm to 120 nm and having a conductivity of less than 20 ?s/cm in combination with medium size silica particles sized 30 nm to 60 nm. Optionally, additional extra particular additives such as silica sized 2 nm to 20 nm, alumina, titania or mixtures thereof can be used. The finished toner having these specific additives exhibited superior printing performance.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 27, 2013
Date of Patent: March 31, 2020
    Assignee: Lexmark International, Inc.
Inventors: Kasturi Rangan Srinivasan, Rick Owen Jones, Courtney Harrison Soale, Devon Jean Vaccaro Strain, Ligia Aura Bejat
  • Publication number: 20170176887
Abstract: A toner cartridge for an electrophotographic image forming device according to one example embodiment includes a housing having a reservoir for storing toner. A rotatable shaft is positioned within the reservoir and has a threaded portion. A thread follower mounted on the threaded portion of the shaft moves axially along the threaded portion of the shaft when the shaft rotates. A magnet is movable with the thread follower axially along the shaft for detecting an axial position of the thread follower along the shaft by magnetic sensors when the toner cartridge is installed in the electrophotographic image forming device.

  • Publication number: 20100040969
Abstract: A toner composition and a method of making a toner composition wherein toner particles having an average size in the range of 1-25 ?m may be mixed with silica particles and alumina particles surface treated with an inorganic/organic compound. The silica particles may have a primary particle size in the range of 2 nm to 20 nm and may be present in the range of 0.01% to 3.0% by weight of the toner composition. The alumina particles surface treated with an inorganic/organic compound may be present in the range of 0.01% to 1.0% by weight of the toner composition.

  • Publication number: 20100040968
Abstract: A toner composition and method of providing such composition which may be used in a printer or printer cartridge. The composition may include toner particles mixed with silica particles having a primary particle size in the range of 30 nm to 60 nm present in the range of 0.1 to 2.0% by weight of the toner composition and silica particles having a primary particle size in the range of 60 nm to 150 nm present in the range of 0.1 to 2% by weight of the toner composition.

  • Publication number: 20070297827
Abstract: A shield may be provided over a printer developer roll, adjacent to a doctor blade, to reduce toner dusting and toner accumulations. The shield may slightly conform to the curvature of the developer roll in some embodiments. As a result, toner accumulations on surfaces which the customer must touch may be reduced.
