Patent number: 11492868Abstract: A micro frac plug used to seal individual perforations formed in a casing installed within a subterranean wellbore. The plug comprises an insert element and a deformable sleeve. The insert element is received and retained within a medial section of the sleeve. The plug is sized to be lodged in or seated on a single perforation. The plug blocks fluid from flowing through the perforation.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 2020Date of Patent: November 8, 2022Assignee: MicroPlug, LLCInventor: Kevin Dewayne Jones

Patent number: 11480022Abstract: A jarring tool used to dislodge a stuck tubular string or bottom hole assembly within an underground wellbore. Tubular strings with which the tool may be used may be formed from drill pipe, jointed pipe, or coiled tubing. A funnel element is placed underground either within, or as part of, a tubular string. A deformable ball may be seated within the funnel element to block fluid from passing within the tubular string. Hydraulic pressure may build within the tubular string until it exceeds the pressure the ball can withstand. This will cause the ball to deform and be expelled through the funnel element. With no ball to block its flow, fluid will be rapidly released through the funnel element. The rapid release of fluid will cause a powerful jarring or jolting to the tubular string or bottom hole assembly.Type: GrantFiled: April 10, 2019Date of Patent: October 25, 2022Assignee: HydraShock, L.L.C.Inventor: Kevin Dewayne Jones

Publication number: 20220307329Abstract: A tubular component configured to be interposed between parts of a drill string used with a cased wellbore. A lobe is supported on and projects from an outer surface of the tubular component. The lobe causes the tubular component to have a cross-sectional profile that is asymmetric relative to an axis of symmetry of the drill string. As the drill string and tubular component rotate, the lobe contacts debris within the wellbore. The lobe also causes the drill string to rotate eccentrically, helping to reduce friction between the drill string and wellbore and dislodge a stuck drill string.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 24, 2022Publication date: September 29, 2022Inventor: Kevin Dewayne Jones

Publication number: 20220042388Abstract: A system used to dislodge and, if necessary, sever a tubular string that is stuck within a cased wellbore. The system utilizes a jar, a plurality of plugs, and a tubular severance device. Components of the system are carried to their respective desired downhole positions by downward fluid flow within the wellbore. The jar is configured to jar the string in an effort to dislodge the string from its stuck point. The plugs are configured to fill open perforations formed in the casing in order to direct the fluid toward the stuck point and away from the perforations. If the string cannot be freed by the jar, the tubular severance device is deployed within the string above the stuck point. Detonation of the device severs the string above the stuck point.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 25, 2021Publication date: February 10, 2022Inventor: Kevin Dewayne Jones

Publication number: 20210381329Abstract: A milling tool for use in a cased wellbore. The milling tool has a housing having a plurality of pockets formed therein. A blade is installed within each pocket and is movable between open and closed positions. The blade projects from the pocket when in an open position. Rotation of the housing causes the blades to move to an open position. The blades remain in a closed position when the housing is not rotating.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 4, 2021Publication date: December 9, 2021Inventor: Kevin Dewayne Jones

Publication number: 20210270100Abstract: A downhole tool configured to vary the amount of pressurized fluid delivered to other tools incorporated into a bottom hole assembly, such as a mud motor. The tool comprises an inner element installed within an outer sleeve. The inner element is configured to move between three different positions relative to the outer sleeve. In a first position, pressurized fluid is diverted away from downstream tools within the bottom hole assembly. In a second and third position, pressurized fluid is directed towards downstream tools. Movement of the tool between the different positions is caused by varying external forces applied to the tool.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 25, 2021Publication date: September 2, 2021Inventor: Kevin Dewayne Jones

Publication number: 20210230984Abstract: A perforating gun for use in oil and gas operations. The gun is carried to a desired area of a wellbore using only fluid pressure. The gun comprises a charge housing disposed within a removable sleeve. The charge housing comprises a plurality of shaped charges in communication with one or more sensors. The sensors are programmed to initiate the detonation sequence of the shaped charges upon measuring set parameters. Upon detonation, the gun fragments into a plurality of pieces that may be washed away from the detonation site.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 9, 2021Publication date: July 29, 2021Inventor: Kevin Dewayne Jones

Patent number: 11035187Abstract: A circulating sub having an elongate outer member and an elongate inner member positioned within the outer member. Locking members releasably maintain the inner and outer members in a longitudinally fixed relationship. The sub may be activated by a single ball. The ball engages with the locking members and unlocks the inner member from the outer member. The increase of fluid pressure within the sub causes the inner member to move downward within the outer member. Downward movement of the inner member opens exit ports on the outer member to allow fluid to flow into a wellbore surrounding the sub. The decrease of fluid pressure within the sub causes the inner member to move upward within the outer member. Upward movement of the inner member seals the exit ports and deactivates the sub. Once the sub is deactivated, the ball may be expelled from the sub.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 2019Date of Patent: June 15, 2021Assignee: Tenax Energy Solutions, LLCInventor: Kevin Dewayne Jones

Patent number: 10774831Abstract: A method for impregnating a stator of a progressive cavity assembly with nanoparticles. The assembly comprising a stator having an inner core formed on its inner surface, the inner core defining a groove. A primary rotor is disposed within the groove. In operation, the primary rotor is removed from the stator, and a plurality of nanoparticles are distributed throughout the groove. A work rotor is installed within the groove and rotated at a high rate so as to press the nanoparticles into the inner core. The work rotor is removed from the stator and the primary rotor is re-installed into the stator.Type: GrantFiled: May 10, 2018Date of Patent: September 15, 2020Assignee: Tenax Energy Solutions, LLCInventor: Kevin Dewayne Jones

Publication number: 20190360289Abstract: A tool for cleaning out the lower end of a cased wellbore having an installed production string. The tool is lowered down the production string until it reaches a stationary position. In that position, a lower section of the tool projects through an opening at the base of the production string and into the wellbore. The tool sprays high pressure fluid from its fluid openings into nearby portions of the wellbore. To remove the tool from the production string, a deformable ball is lowered into a funnel sub installed within the tool. Fluid pressure is applied to the ball until the ball is extruded through the funnel sub and captured within a cage immediately below the funnel sub. Within the cage, the ball blocks upward flow of subterranean fluid into the funnel and through the tool. With no fluid passing through the tool, the upward fluid flow carries the tool to ground level.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 23, 2019Publication date: November 28, 2019Inventor: Kevin Dewayne Jones
