    Abstract: A vehicle air bag passenger protection system that includes switches in the vehicle bumpers. Control signals are generated by the switches to produce rapid inflation of air bags in the passenger compartment of the vehicle. As a further protective feature, a distance measuring system is provided for generating an alarm signal when the vehicle is moving at a significant speed, and another vehicle is so close as to present the possibility of a collision situation.
