The discriminating spectral domain may be a region defined by at least one of the transmitted spectrum of the light source and a reflected spectrum of the FBG sensor. A width of the discriminating spectral domain may be based at least in part on a range of operation of the FBG sensor. In the discriminating domain region, a power of the reflected optical signal may change monotonically in response to a shift in the reflected spectrum of the FBG sensor. The photodetector may transform the reflected optical signal into an electrical signal.
