  • Publication number: 20240227244
Abstract: A method for making a cured rubber sheet, the method comprising providing an uncured rubber sheet, where the uncured rubber sheet includes opposing planar surfaces; applying a curable coating composition to at least one planar surface of the uncured rubber sheet to form at least one layer of curable coating composition, where the curable coating composition includes a polymer with a silicon-containing hydrolyzable terminal group polymer; subjecting the curable coating composition to curing conditions that cure the coating composition and thereby form at least one cured coating layer on the uncured rubber sheet, wherein the at least one cured coating layer includes a cured residue of the polymer with a silicon-containing hydrolyzable terminal group polymer; rolling the uncured rubber sheet having at least one cured coating layer onto itself to form a roll; and subjecting the roll to curing conditions that cure the uncured rubber sheet and thereby forms a roll of cured rubber sheet.

  • Publication number: 20240093497
Abstract: A method of installing a roof system, the method comprising (i) providing a first membrane panel including a polymeric planar body having a top planar surface and a bottom planar surface; (ii) securing the first membrane panel to a roof substrate; (iii) providing a second membrane panel including a polymeric planar body having a top planar surface and a bottom planar surface; (iv) positioning the second membrane panel adjacent to the first membrane panel so that the second membrane panel overlaps the first membrane panel in a lap region; (v) applying a primer composition to the top planar surface of the first membrane panel in the lap region to form a first primed surface; (vi) optionally applying a primer composition to the bottom planar surface of the second membrane panel in the lap region to form a second primed surface; (vii) applying an adhesive to at least one of the first primed surface or the second primed surface; and (viii) seaming the first membrane panel to the second membrane panel with the adhe

  • Publication number: 20230031761
Abstract: In one or more embodiments, the present invention provides a polymer composition for use in, cosmetics, coatings, inks, polymer compounding formulation comprising an all-natural, DHN-based, nitrogen-free black knot fungal (BKF) allomelanin extracted from black knots (a fungal growth formed by Apiosporina morbosa). The BKF melanin is naturally sourced, economically extracted, and quite unexpectedly, has been found to have better UV absorbing and antioxidant properties than synthetic melanin (polydopamine) and commercially available sepia melanin. In various embodiments, a small amount of the BKF melanin is substantially uniformly blended into a polymer or similar material to create a composition having excellent UV absorption and antioxidant properties.

  • Publication number: 20220411669
Abstract: A method of installing a roof system includes providing a first membrane composite; adhesively securing the first membrane composite to a roof surface through a UV-cured pressure-sensitive adhesive layer; providing a second membrane composite; adhesively securing the second membrane composite to the roof surface through a UV-cured pressure-sensitive adhesive layer, where the second membrane composite is positioned adjacent to and partially overlapping a lap area of the first membrane composite; and adhesively securing the second membrane composite to a first planar surface of the first membrane composite along a primer layer through the UV-cured pressure-sensitive adhesive layer disposed on the second membrane composite.

  • Patent number: 9827709
Abstract: The present invention is directed to synthetic attachment discs made from adhesive nanofibers and/or microfibers that are capable of attaching long fibers to a wide variety of surfaces, and related methods for forming and using them. The synthetic attachment discs of the present invention use very little material relative to prior art systems, while producing a very strong attachment force. Experimental and theoretical evidence are provided to confirm the advantages of thousands of micron-size ‘staple-pins’ and their low peeling angles to enhance the adhesive forces required to peel the synthetic attachment discs. The present invention provides a unique strategy for designing new adhesives that use very little material for various biomedical and material science applications.
