  • Publication number: 20230276271
Abstract: Embodiments are directed towards systems and methods for managing user experiences during cellular telecommunication outages within a wireless telecommunication network, such as a wireless 5G network. Example embodiments include systems and methods managing user experiences during a cellular telecommunication network outage utilizing a backup data center. For example, in response to the distributed unit (DU) detecting there exists the failure in communication between the DU and the corresponding primary centralized unit control plane (CU-CP), the system causes the DU to switch from using the corresponding primary CU-CP to using the secondary CU-CP of a secondary CU hosted on the backup cloud-native virtualized compute instance based on utilizing a secondary ID pre-configured on the DU.

  • Publication number: 20230247489
Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices dynamically allocate bandwidth parts in response to conditions at cell sites. An example process assigns a first plurality of slices and a second plurality of slices to communicate on a bandwidth of a cell site. The cell site operates at a first level of power consumption. A changed operating state is detected at the cell site, and the first plurality of slices is assigned to communicate on a bandwidth part of the cell site in response to detecting the changed operating state. The bandwidth part is a subset of the bandwidth. The cell site operates at a second level of power consumption in response to assigning the plurality of slices to communicate on the bandwidth part. The second level of power consumption is less than the first level of power consumption.

  • Publication number: 20230188200
Abstract: Various arrangements for performing dynamic resource blanking on a cellular network to prevent satellite communication interference are provided. Interference modelling can be provided by a satellite operator that operates a satellite. A cellular network can receive orbital data for the satellite. Based upon the orbital data for the satellite and the interference modelling, the cellular network can blank physical resource blocks (PRBs) for uplink communication with various base stations.

  • Publication number: 20230144911
Abstract: Disclosed is creation of a very narrow bandwidth part (BWP), referred to herein as a virtual BWP. The virtual BWP is created within an operating channel that is not supported by 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) current standards (e.g., below 5 MHz). This enables a wireless network to be even more flexible in supporting a variety of use cases. In particular, the network artificially creates a small virtual BWP and assigns it to users without requiring any explicit signaling to the user for creating the virtual BWP. The virtual BWPs will limit the physical downlink control channel (PDCCH), the physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) data region, the physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) and the physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) for a given user which can be associated with slicing.

  • Publication number: 20230033532
Abstract: Systems and methods of scheduling bit rates for first-class traffic for a first and second class session for a device; honoring for the device each first class session with the bit rate equal to a session aggregate maximum bit rate (AMBR) by a scheduler by assigning a threshold for an aggregate bit rate for traffic for each first-class session; if a total of the aggregate bit rate of traffic for each first class session is below the threshold assigned, then assigning each first class session the session AMBR for first-class session traffic for the device; if the total of the aggregate bit rate of traffic for each first class session is above the threshold assigned, then proportionality scheduling packets of the traffic for the first class session of the device to limit the aggregate rate of the first-class traffic below the threshold.

  • Publication number: 20230034448
Abstract: Automated processes, computing systems, devices and other aspects of a wireless data network are described. According to various embodiments, message flooding in the wireless network is reduced through the use of “dummy” messages from the radio unit (RU) to the distributed unit (DU) and/or layer two (L2) switch. The dummy messages prevent timeout of the RU's data in the L2 switch's routing tables, thereby prolonging the period of time that the L2 switch is able to more efficiently direct subsequent traffic toward that particular device.

  • Publication number: 20230019773
Abstract: Techniques described herein provide pooling of radio access network (RAN) resources in a disaggregated RAN in a manner that enables dynamic re-homing of RAN functions with minimal disruption to stateful communications. The RAN is a hierarchical arrangement of RAN units, each having an associated state at any given time. A RAN state pooling system (RSPS) is in communication with a pool of the RAN units via a high-speed communication channel. The RSPS is configured to maintain an updated repository of the state information for the RAN units in its serviced pool. In the event of re-homing from a first RAN unit to a second RAN unit in the pool (e.g., due to the first RAN unit failing, becoming overloaded, etc.), the RSPS provides the second RAN unit with the updated state information for the first RAN unit to facilitate a stateful re-homing.

  • Publication number: 20220408334
Abstract: Systems and methods to utilize user device self-reported quality metrics and machine learning mechanisms to optimize management of user device mobility in a cellular network. Cells in the network obtain quality data for one or more user devices in communication with the cells, including channel-quality-indicator values, reference-signal-received-power values, and reference-signal-received-quality values. The quality data is processed by a machine learning mechanism to generate a separate quality report for each cell. In response to receiving a request to handover communications for a target user device, the quality reports are utilized to select a cell that is predicted to provide the best quality communications for the target user device.

  • Publication number: 20220191707
Abstract: Various arrangements for updating a radio unit (RU) of a cellular network are presented. A volume of cellular signals being handled by a first programmable processor of the RU and a second programmable processor of the RU may be analyzed. A determination can be made that one of the processors has sufficient available resources to handle the analyzed volume of cellular signals. The RU can cause cellular signals to be rerouted to one of the programmable processors while the other processor is taken offline for updating. The update process is performed such that UE in communication with the RU experience uninterrupted cellular network access.
