Abstract: An apparatus for cleaning a moving surface having toner particles thereon, including: a housing defining an open ended chamber; means, disposed in the chamber of the housing with a portion thereof extending outwardly from the open end of the chamber of the housing into contact with the surface, for cleaning toner particles therefrom, the removed particles moving away from the cleaning means; means for lubricating the cleaning means, the lubricating means located downstream from the cleaning means, in a direction of motion of the surface, the lubricating means collecting and transporting toner particles from a center portion of the moving surface to both end portion of the moving surface; and an auger, located downstream from the cleaning means and the lubricating means, in the direction of motion of the surface, collecting the toner particles that escape from the lubricating means.

Abstract: Bearing (20) for a rotatable metallic member (8) to which an electrical potential is to be applied during rotation thereof, including a cylindrical sleeve (21) having an internal bearing surface for a cylindrical shaft (17) of said metallic member. The cylindrical sleeve (21) is of a conductive plastic material. The bearing is especially useful in a developer assembly for an electrostatographic apparatus including a metallic developer roll. The developer roll (8) has at least one metallic shaft which is supported for rotation in one of the bearings.

Abstract: A xerographic cassette adapted to be removably mounted in a main assembly of a printing machine comprises a cassette housing containing a photoreceptor, a housing for containing developer, and an aperture through which the photoreceptor may be exposed to light. A retactable sealing shutter is provided for sealing the developer housing, and a retractable opaque shutter is provided for closing the aperture, the two shutters being linked to form a unitary member which is slideably mounted in the cassette housing.

Abstract: A sealed bearing assembly for a rotating shaft includes a bearing member having an integral lip which engages the shaft to form a first seal. The bearing member also has an integral collar defining a recess into which is press-fitted a separate annular member adapted to engage the shaft so as to form a second seal closely adjacent the first seal. The two seals may have different sealing characteristics. The bearing member, the lip seal, and the collar are formed integrally as a one-piece element and can be manufactured simply and cheaply from a plastics material by injection molding.
