Publication number: 20220109374Abstract: Reduced voltage switching of the primary switch. At least one example is a method comprising: activating, during a first switching period, a primary switch coupled to a primary winding of a transformer of a flyback topology, the activating induces a positive current in the primary winding; deactivating the primary switch and activating a secondary switch coupled to the secondary of the transformer, the activating the secondary switch during the first switching period and for a duration selected based on a signal indicative of negative current from a prior switching period, and the activating the secondary switch results in a positive current through the secondary winding followed by a negative current through the secondary winding; and discharging capacitance of the primary switch by a negative current in the primary winding responsive to the negative current in the secondary winding.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 1, 2021Publication date: April 7, 2022Applicant: SEMICONDUCTOR COMPONENTS INDUSTRIES, LLCInventors: Ajay Karthik HARI, Dhruv CHOPRA

Patent number: 11188354Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention comprise a class sharing orchestrator (CSO) operating as a subsystem of a container orchestrator. The CSO manages sharing of class data among containerized applications to improve startup performance, CPU consumption and memory footprint. The CSO stores application class data in a shared class cache (SCC). The CSO provides a compatible SCC to every deployed application running within the CSO's purview. The CSO collects SCC data from running applications, and processes the data offline to continuously improve the quality of SCCs provided to each deployment, while causing minimum impact to running applications. The CSO combines updates from running applications of a given type to generate an improved quality SCC for use by newly launched applications of the same type. The CSO comprises an SCC update mechanism that optimizes the size, and network traffic, associated with SCC data exchange, and guarantees SCC quality improves over time.Type: GrantFiled: September 23, 2020Date of Patent: November 30, 2021Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Anyang Yu, Dhruv Chopra, Alen Badel, Vijay Sundaresan, Marius Pirvu, Michael Dawson, Daniel Heidinga

Patent number: 11152867Abstract: Synchronous rectification in active clamp flyback power converters. At least some example embodiments are methods including: sensing a first slope of voltage on a secondary winding of the transformer, the first slope indicative of the power converter entering a charge mode of the transformer; modifying, responsive the sensing, an operational state of a secondary rectifier (SR), driver coupled to a secondary rectifier; making the secondary rectifier conductive by the SR driver during a discharge mode of the transformer; sensing a second slope of voltage on the secondary of the transformer, the second slope indicative of ending of the discharge mode of the power converter; and then returning, responsive to sensing the second slope, the SR driver to an original operational state.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 2020Date of Patent: October 19, 2021Assignee: SEMICONDUCTOR COMPONENTS INDUSTRIES, LLCInventors: Dhruv Chopra, Tomas Tichy

Patent number: 10840817Abstract: Synchronous rectification in active clamp flyback power converters. At least some example embodiments are methods including: sensing, based on a rate of change of voltage on a drain of a synchronous rectifier field effect transistor (SR FET), that the power converter has entered a charge mode of a transformer arranged for flyback operation; changing, responsive the sensing, a parameter within a SR driver from an original state to a modified state, the SR driver coupled to the SR FET; making the SR FET conductive during a discharge mode of the transformer; sensing, based on a voltage at the drain of the SR FET, that the discharge mode of the converter has ended; returning, responsive to sensing that the discharge mode has ended, the parameter to the original state.Type: GrantFiled: November 5, 2019Date of Patent: November 17, 2020Assignee: SEMICONDUCTOR COMPONENTS INDUSTRIES, LLCInventors: Dhruv Chopra, Tomas Tichy

Patent number: 10560026Abstract: Power conversion efficiency using variable switching frequency. At least some of the example embodiments are power circuit controllers including a voltage sense input and a control signal output. The power circuit controller varies an output frequency of the control signal output between a first frequency and a second frequency based on a source voltage supplied to the power controller. Both the first frequency and the second frequency are non-zero.Type: GrantFiled: July 12, 2018Date of Patent: February 11, 2020Assignee: SEMICONDUCTOR COMPONENTS INDUSTRIES, LLCInventors: Ajay Karthik Hari, Dhruv Chopra

Patent number: 8112480Abstract: Architecture for seamless role switching in application sharing. A multipoint control unit (MCU) can be used for connecting multiple clients over a network. An application sharing component establishes an application sharing session over the MCU, and application content is exchanged from a sharer client to one or more viewer clients. Each client can communicate a media connection preference to the session. Client sharer and viewer roles are defined during creation of the application sharing session. A client can seamlessly switch roles during the session from a viewer to a sharer, and vice-versa, so that different application content can be shared to the session viewers. The session can be restricted to only one sharer so that the viewing clients view one sharer client at a time.Type: GrantFiled: January 16, 2009Date of Patent: February 7, 2012Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Sundar Anantharaman, Pradipta Kumar Basu, Deepak P.
